Hmm Fuses...Does it really matter?
Hmm Fuses...Does it really matter?
Well i blew a fuse today...An 80 amp fuse that came with my wiring kit. So i went to discounts and they only had fuses up to 60 amps, so would it b ok if i got this or would that restrict some power or something? THanks

How did you blow an 80 amp fuse? Did you short it or something and it blew? You can go a little smaller (safer) if possible
if the amps get too high then of course it will keep blowing the fuse, so hunt down an 80 amp if thats the case.. might get away with a 60.

Are you talking about the fuse that is near your battery?
The reason I ask is because that fuse is there to protect the wire from the fuse to the amps from melting from too much current. More than likely what's happening is that your amps are drawing more than 80 amps and thus overloading that fuse.
So let us know what gauge wire you have and what kind of current draw your amp(s) produce and we can go from there.

It doesn't hurt to go lower if possible, thats always 100% better than going higher, even if you are sure there is no short in the system at all.... you never know what can happen
better to be safe than sorry. A little fuse is cheaper than all of your equipment. I have fuses on almost every wire in my car that carries any kind of current, wires which have to do with the system and anything else electrical I had installed.
