Default Alpine CDA-9820XM

Has anyone here installed or demoed one of these Alpine's with the "built-in" XM reciever? I've read reviews bitching about the display being very hard to see in daylight conditions. I'm more concerned about the quality of the audio in XM mode but if the display is unreadable in bright light conditions It's a moot point.

The reason I'm interested in this model is you can't get a much shorter signal path than the sat reciever being built-in the head unit and not having to deal with outboard components/wiring.

It's digital quality, what more could you ask for? And the display is only unreadable at wide angles, so visibility really depends on your application.

Anyone know of a local shop in the Tampa/Lakeland area that carries this model and may have one on display? The big box stores don't carry it for whatever reason/s.

Thanks man, even though I've bought a lot of stuff from SA over the years (the Yamaha RX-V2400 HT reciever i bought from them kicks ass) it didn't dawn on me to check them out for car audio... Duh.

Thanks!

AVE Audio in clearwater also has it last i checked

2 pairs of 2-volt preouts is enough to say no for me, plus the fact that Sirius > XM...
so why not just get a nicer alpine/eclipse deck and a sirius tuner for it as both are sirius capable

just a thought

FYI anyone who reads this the Terk tuners for Sony/Pioneer/Kenwood etc arent great either, the signal is fine but Ive had more than a couple come back with weird ass problems at work, so buy those from CC or BB with warranty if thats your only option.

I already have XM in the wife's car and we are happy with the channels available which is why I was looking at the 9820XM. why do you think Sirius is >? Just curious, not looking for a debate.

More satellites so less repeaters, no commercials on any music channel, the repeat time for each individual station is longer so the likelihood of hearing songs more than once is less, and most importantly the stations/programming are simply better. I listen to both for hours on end at work and Sirius always seems to beat XM IMO.

But as long as your happy thats all that counts, my dad has XM and he likes it, so its all good, and the 9820XM will probably do everything you need.
