Default in dash dvd ebrake bypass

I haven't gotten one yet but I have been looking around and I think the alpine iva 300 will be the one I get. I have seen a module on ebay that is supposed to be for bypassing the ebrake cutouts on the alpine unit. my question is, is it neccessary or can I do the same thing with a relay or switch to make the unit think the ebrake is on. most electronics like this just look for the ground or 12v power that the ebrake shows when it is engaged. I haven't delt with the video stuff yet but have done my own audio and alarms for years so the wiring is no problem. thanks

Nope, wont work. The Alpines need a sequence of the e-brake and actual brake to get them to work. This can be wired up with a switch and a button, or also with the PAC TR7 bypass module, which is well worth the $20 on ebay.

Yup, on every screen except the Alpines and the Pioneer AVICN2, you can just ground the ebrake wire.

AVIC N2 is just a ground. It requires A double Pulse On off on of a swich its how my boards are wired up for display, Avic D1 AvicN2 AvicN1 and the AVHDVD5700 on off on. Thre relays would solve it if your good with relays. or a cheap switch.

I put an N2 in an M3 and he came back for me to install his XM NavTraffic and he added a basic I/O push button switch to the ground when he hit it itd just come on he never toggled it... Iunno why unless some still have the older unit with newer brain ? They are all gonna start going to movement if it has navigation your screwed it knows your moving ! lol Panasonic will be going to this setup too i heard. their overheads already do thisgives you that damn warning.

Nope. Time to get technical. Spyder please know what you are talking about before you post, instead of having to delete your thread because you get owned, like when you posted that CC sells IVA-D901's for $1100 NIB

The D1 is retarded because it supports DVD-Rom but not DVD Video. Who wants to pay that much and not be able to play DVDs right off the bat. Its only saving grace is that it has dual slots to have a Nav DVD and a CD in at once.

The AVICN1 you could just ground. The 5700DVD is on-off-on.

Now for the N2. When hooked up with the vss wire, parking brake, and gps antenna is impossible to watch while driving. It will shut off over 10 mph. It also has to do with the GPS software for the N2, tied in with the gyros in the brain. If you use an N1 with software newer than version 1.2, it will have motionlock also, so its all tied together.

There are a couple ways to bypass it right now...

1.) Connect the Parking Brake wire from the brain to ground.
2.) Connect the Reverse-Signal wire from the brain to a switch near your seat that your can activate while driving. Connect the other side of the switch to 12V power.
3.) Loop the video output from the top of the brain into the rear-view camera input on the bottom of the brain.
4.) In the N2 setup screen, turn on rear camera feature.
NOTE: There will be a message at the bottom of the screen to the extent of "Caution: Image May Appear Reversed."

The other option is to unplug the GPS antenna, and put a switch on any vehicle dynamics wires to disconnect them. Then ground the green wire that is supposed to go to parking brake. Now you have DVD. GPS can't be used, but if the passenger is watching a dvd, then the navigation really does not need to be on. You don't need navi every time you leave the house, only long trips or to show off.

The third and last option is the worst one, because it voids warranty. It will basically accomplish the same thing as the unplugging method above. Its more hassle at first but less hassle every time you want to watch a DVD. You have to open the brain to make the N2 think the car isnt moving.
1.) Put a switch on the VSS wire and hook it up.
2.) Take apart the brain and cut the contacts from the plug on the GPS antenna going to the curcuit board.
3.) Solder a relay in between each contact.
4.) Wire them both to open and close on a switch
5.) Put the brain back together and mount the relays on the outer case, wiring the switch in the dash that opens/closes the relays.
P.S. Do not cut the GPS antenna wire, the wire is a set length that is impedence matched to the gps gyro in the brain.

And there you have it. Heres the solution to all your problems: buy an Eclipse unit instead, because theyre better anyway. Or if your really stuck on Pioneer, get a 7500DVD with AVIC80 or other separate Nav. Or wait and get the 7600DVD and separate Nav, because the 7600 will be the last of the good Pioneer units where you can just ground it. When it comes out it will be the same as the 7500DVD, but without a tv tuner built in and a couple other very minor changes.
