??????????faceplate fucking up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
??????????faceplate fucking up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the face plate on my deck keeps going haywire. half the time the volume knob doesnt work and i usually end up getting stuck with the volume all the way up..lol and sometimes the lights go out or dim on the faceplate when i push the button to change stations. i think that it is the spring behind the faceplate or the connectors between the faceplate and deck itself.
?1. can i just change the spring?
?2. my deck is a pioneer deh-p4600 can i use a diff faceplate say 5600 6600 or 5700 6700?
?3 should i just buy a new deck (really dont want to do this)?
?4. is the "brains" (all the features) built in the faceplate or the deck itself.?
rep points if i get it figured out (notladstyle )

If it changes with motion (ie when you jiggle it or press buttons it helps or worsens it) then its a connection issue. If it gives you weird characters n shit then it could be a messed up faceplate or a connection issue. I doubt the headunit is doing it.
I would get a qtip and some alchohol and give the terminals a good cleaning, don't soak them just rub them thoroughly. Also, the prongs are kinda spring loaded and sometimes bending them a tiny bit will help give a better connection. Since its not motorized Im pretty sure the ribbon cable wouldnt be the problem.
The p4600 has mp3 n all that good shit so theres no need to get a new deck unless you cant fix it. Give it a good cleaning with a qtip and post up the results.
mmmm rep points...
