You could make a jumper, from the B+ input to the amp, to the turn on input (unhook whatever you have going to the turn on now). Make is something easy to unhook, so you don't kill your battery. If this fixes the problem, then it is a turn on issue.

Dalton, I think he is saying that the amp turns off, making a thump, while the radio is still on. Not just a turn on thump, as your scenario would create.

I agree, but i think he's curious WHY the amp turns off by itself while the radio is on.

and this jumper will take the turn on from the headunit out of the equation, so he can find out. If it still does it, then it is not the headuint. If it stops, then he might be on to something.

Or he can take pictures of his setup and stop wasting everyone's time playing the not-so-descriptive guessing game.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

good call.

Thats why I always like to wire up a separate switch anyways for my amps.

I am not sure how to do a jumper, but yes Toby that is what I was trying to say. Just like this evening on my way home the radio and amp was on and playing music for a good 20 minutes then POP and off.. head unit of course stayed on.

But like PO57 has made obvious I have not been very descriptive, which I apologize for but I am not too familiar with sound systems I was just glad my head unit works. So since I wasn't able to take pics today I'll just take it down some place this weekend and have someone look at it for me.
Toby and DJGizmo, thanks for trying to help.

Bring it by the audio meet, at my shop...you'll have plenty of people to look at it there.
