I'm betting that it's the wiring/grounding.


One last question:

When you're idling, are you hearing a high pitched whine? does it get louder as you give the car a little gas (in neutral/park)?

^ No, nothing like that. the only thing that is unusual its the pop of the speakers when the amp turns off, sometimes (rarely) with the pop a squeal will accompany it but it only last for the second of the amp turning off
