Default System Question

Ok, I just got (2) 12" Kicker CompVR's and a Kicker ZX750.1 amp.

I am going to be installing them in my Ford Focus ZX3. I would like to get the most boom without completely horrible sound quality.

My First question is, Should I have a Ported or a Sealed Box? How much air space?

My Second Question is, Should it be facing towards the front or the rear of the car?

My Third Question is, If the Subs are 2-Ohm and 400w RMS and the Amp is 750w at 2-Ohms. Should I wire my subs Parallel (1 Ohm Load) or Series (4 Ohm Load)?

If they were wired for Parallel, would that mean I would be Getting 750w to each sub?

parallel is split between the two.

Parallel would make each sub run at 1 Ohm and the amp is 750W at 2-Ohm so would that mean each sub/ohm gets 750?

Power output is not directly proportionate to resistance. But in theory it would provide more current. But that amp is rated for 750 watts at 2ohms. While 1ohm would channel more power, the amp isnt designed to carry the extra current and will either burn out or go into protect any time the output current exceeds the design limit.

So 1ohm isnt an option for that amp.

However, if your compVRs are DUAL 2ohm coils then you can wire EACH sub in series to 4ohms and then wire both subs in parallel to 2ohms at the amp which will result in 750 watts of rated current (split between the two, 375watts per sub)

Ok, I get it now. Thanks Man. Now I just need to know what will sound better, Ported or Sealed and if the subs should point to the hatch or the front.

Ported will give you more bass in a setup like this. Give me some dimensions and I can design you a box.

Id go for a larger sealed box if you want decent sound quality. CVRs are not the best for sq to begin with, putting them into a ported box promises no cleanliness of sound at all.

i agree a large sealed is what i would do.
isn't the zx3 a hatch? if so you'll have plenty of "boom" with a sealed box.

Yes the ZX3 is a hatch. I already have a ported box I got with the subs so im going to try that out and see how it sounds. If its not good enough I'll get a sealed box. Thanks for everyones input.
