i wouldnt buy a ebay kit it will say 4gauge but in real life its a 4gauge rubber with 8 gauge wire inside

That's Raptor wire..

For the most part eBay kits would be fine, look at teh strand count if in doubt and compare to say a Kicker or KnuKonceptz kit... which btw KnuKonceptz 4 gauge kit is pretty damn cheap.
