RSX Fiberglass Project
keyston bros in ft lauderdale has gm and ford tunkliner carpet. im shure the black would be an exact match. call michael hendrix (general manager) 954 462 0707. i order from them all the time and always have it the next day.
aight ill call them and see if they have loose carpet.
Gulf Fabrics is who all the audio/upholstery shops use for all automotive upholstery and audio-type carpeting, stretch-leather, vinyl, suede, etc. Gulf also sells the stretchy material used to staple across the MDF forms that you build that you can lay the fiberglass mat on. They will not give you wholesale pricing but they are still open to the general public anyway:
Gulf Fabrics 813-875-2707
3709 N. Armenia Ave.
Tampa, FL 33673-1303
You can also get better fiberglass and body filler that the pros use from body shop supply places like:
Auto Body Express (813)-875-2707
11715 N Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612
That stuff that you are using from the local auto parts store stuff is expensive and sets a little too fast (PITA to work with IMO). The body shop supply places sell the correct brushes, resin, matting, and the yellow (or green) body filler that doesn't dry pitted (less sanding if spread properly). If you are going to play with this a lot, get the body shop professional stuff and you will see how easy it is to get a completely smooth surface (smooth enough to have painted instead of covering all that hard work with carpet).
Fun stuff, just wish more customers were willing to pay for it-those days seem to be pretty much gone!

The customer wants is carpeted to match his car. I didn't apply any filler at all, its just 5 layers of resin & mat sanded down with 60 grit. If it will stop Fing raining I can get the carpet on it and get paid.
Eventually I'll give that body shop stuff a try (maybe for a personal box), but I'm not a fan of painted enclosures in general; I prefer carpet for a cleaner and more professional look. When I do get a painted box, I usually fab it, quick sand it, and send it to a body shop. For $100 you can get a decent sized dual 12" box sanded and painted in most common colors.
When the economy picks up and gas prices drop I'm sure the audio game will pick up again. In the mean time though, seems like more people than ever want alarms to keep from losing their hard earned goods.

I don't argue that. Selling lot's of basic accessories (tint, alarm, speaker and stereo upgrades) lately especially at the new-car dealer level. Seems that many people have accepted the economy and are making the best of the vehicle they have. And the ones that are buying new are grabbing cheap imports (Hyundai, Mazda, Kia) and spending a few bucks hooking them up. We have NEVER had a demand for full navigation systems and wheels on Hyundais, Kias, etc until the last few months?!?

Ful navi in a kia?! Thats just shameful. I got into an accident that totaled a kia spectra and the air bags didn't deploy so I hate them the most =(
I really wish I have the patience to get into tint. Its so profitable especially in florida. Some day Dalton. Some day..
ALL DONE! Looks awesome. I cant wait to get pics of it in the car.
Looks good!... no speaker grill though? I think a speaker grill covered in grill cloth would really set it off.

well it faces almost completely upwards, but where would I pick up something like that?
Parts Express has a decent selection of grills (and of course grill cloth), I've seen some cool ones on eBay as well. I like it because it gives it a stealth look. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-426
