Idk why everbody bashes on eminence. I bet if they came in a lil box that said car audio on them people wouldnt hate quite so much. I like them because i listen to mostly chopped and screwed or slowed down and on some of those deep vocals especially slowed down most "car audio" speakers just dont cut it, even the highest end have problems. Ive heard focals and cdts that couldnt carry alot of vocals whereas eminence do the job great. Plus get loud doing it, and sound decent doing it. Now i didnt sound great even i will admit they have there downfalls but for the power required and the price i give a good rep as far as bang for the buck!

 

You've never heard properly installed Focal or CDT's then! Eminance have 2 things going for them: They get loud with little power, and they're cheap.
I think eminence speakers could have a purpose in a well-designed system. I see mostly the Alpha line around here. They're meant to be used in an enclosure, not free air like most people are using them. In the right enclosure they would likely work pretty well for a mid bass speaker because of their sensitivity and their ability to play down to around 100hz. I've never given it a try, because every time i see 8 speakers hacked into a doorpanel or back dash it's always the eminence. I don't get it.

 

does no one listen.. he likes them for slowed music... the deep voices... If he wanted to listen to techno or other music im sure he would go a different route but for the music he listens to they do the job very well..

eminence is about the only speaker off hand that will consistently perform worse than stock speakers in every applications... except being loud, distorted, and tinny.

The only place eminence belong is in a 25 year old piece of shit car with 32" rims raised 3ft in the air owned by some ignorant drug dealer who has more gold in his mouth than teeth.

Eminence is so bad that when Toby(TJelite) still had meets at his shop, Dan(p057) and I were able to pick out the cars running eminence mids within 30 seconds and we were never wrong.

+1 to all that BUT, there is a change in the wind. It seems that eminence has added another fan base to it's followings-high school kids. And actually, they are the only ones in our area that come in still asking for this crap by name. Fortunately, it is pretty easy to sway our local HS kids since their parents are usually paying the bill. We switch them to JBLs at a minimum, or JL Audio if they have a little more budget. Amp it up and stage it properly-the conversion is complete-both on the car and the customer...

I'm definitely not saying they dont get loud, but you will grow out of the "loud at all costs" mentality when you turn 15... err 17.

 

We could go on all day trying to explain how eminence sucks ass. The instigators will keep pushing us, saying that the speakers have "their place" and that they're loud. The 16 year old will keep trying to explain that he's ignorant and unexposed to car audio as his terrible defense.

The point is that eminence's purpose was for GUITAR AMPS and SPEAKER RACKS, not car audio applications. They sound like garbage and the only reason why dumb-ass installers put them in their cars is because they're cheap as dirt and are loud. At that point why not put megaphones in your cars? Oh wait, you basically do, that's where the tweeter horns come in.
