So, has anyone asked this kid who is going to beef up his alternator for him, yet? I recommend he buys a high end aftermarket Powermaster if possible or something like that, of course, and then maybe have it built even more for his power requirements.

But I don't know of many kids that actually worry about those small details. They just know their shit BOOMS, DAWG! Cuz their installer who makes 12 dollars an hour told them so.

Lol, im like best friends with this kid and if you think our installer is a 12 dollar an hour jerk off then your an idiot...we've been helpin out alot of the custom edge audio guys and are startin to get pretty close with them. They deffinetly know what they are doing/talking about, they have built loud cars for many many years, won shows, the whole 9 yards...They are also the only Ascendant audio dealer around this part of the area just throwin that out there...

but i think as long as he uprgrades his big 3 he should be alright, i know grand cherokees stock alternators are pretty strong compared to other cars...

Fuck it, you're not cool until your lights dim and your speakers die off every time the bass drops.

Sorry for the threadjack, but...

I ran Rockford back in the late 80's...punch 150 and punch 45...kick ass amps. I blew the 150 once, and it had 'special, Rockford only' output transistors, per Rockford. My family business had an electronics group, and one of the guru's there determined that they either were BUZ10 outputs, or at least very similar. Replaced the blown ones with BUZ10's, and that fixed it. I think BUZ10 was a motorola part...maybe it has been discontinued, but maybe only the 'rockford special' ones have been.

Scary how back then a punch 150 on two punch 12's was the shit. All of 180 watts mono...oh yeah, 140 db was also 'insanely loud', and the loudest thing around was Virgil Williams' 'Freddie's Nightmare'...an s10 blazer with 16 lanzar 15's...did a whopping 147 db. Virgil used to carry around his own $10k B&K SPL Meter, since no one else could measure that high! Those were the days...
