I guess you and your friend both like to throw out insults with out knowing people, It just show the level of immaturity that runs through the car audio community these days. by the way if im thinking of the right "big Mike" I actually worked with him about 10 years ago at elite audio in clearwater... and yes he was an exelent installer back then im sure hes even better today...

Look, I don't give a shit about if your installer is god or if you two are fucking audophile scholars. I asked a damn question. Is this kid even taking the time out to upgrade to a powermaster alternator or have an OEM one built, or is he just going to stick a huge capacitator in his car and think start running his trap about how he has the baddest system around? Its a simple question, requiring a simple answer. No installer worth a shit would do what he is saying he is having done without STRONGLY recommending a huge alternator upgrade.

But excuse me for looking at this like a car that has some speakers in it, rather than a subwoofer enclosure on wheels.

 

No he will not be upgrading his alternator *RIGHT AWAY* if can build an astro with 16 15" Fi ssd's, with 6 clarion 1550 watt amps with a stock alternator im sure his jeep should be great for now, if his lights start to dim or his voltage drops unbelievably, then so be it, i will be able to accept some of the sarcastic insults and "I told you so's"...

You know... I seriously don't understand how this new generation of car audio installers are able to defy the LAWS OF PHYSICS the way they do... I know for a fact that an astro comes with an alternator of 120 amps and it runs at max 14.3 volts .... so your telling me he created 9300 watts of power from that .....

It seams the greatest minds in science arent at Cambridge University or MIT, there at your local car audio shop. Lets just give them a ring to solve all the cosmic theories, like warp speed, and visiting other galaxies, since they discovered how to multiply power from thin air ....

 

ok albert einstien or watever u wanna call urself i didnt come and make this thread for u to just critisize me and my stock alternator ive personaly heard that van and its loud as shit by the way and ur lil theory means 220 amp alternator running at 12 volts would only push a 2600 watts? that wouldnt even be enough to push all them according to u if i did put a new alternator so wat do i need two now lol u crack me up

 

You are right but you are taking it a bit too far. There are plenty of people running 8kw+ with just a 300amp alt and do just fine, and by your theory it isn't. But anyone that installs knows real world and paper numbers are far from different in car audio. If he has an 140amp alt and <3000watts he could pull it off fine, hell I have done that with 2 extra batteries, no problems.

 

Its no different than some kid taking his car to some 2-bit performance shop to slap a turbo on his stock Honda Civic and wondering why it blew the fuck up a few months later.

I just can't stand halfassed builds.

 

there is a difference between 30 second burst in a competition with that kind of alternator and 6 batteries because the whole time there waiting there charging the batteries and then the burst drains them.

What im talking about is real world when your driving from Tampa to st pete in gridlock traffic for 45 minuts to an hour with your system blaring (like i use to do) the car isint going to sustain 3000 or 9000 watts continuos power drain because the car isint producing the power to replace.

by the way they arent "MY" theries it turns out i didnt create the physics formula, scientist did, and everithing i posted pertaining to that came strait from the MECP installation guide (that sactioning body and level of standard for installers than nobody cares about)

so no this isint being pulled out of my ass like the rest of these "real world numbers" that are being quoted in this thread. Again experience and actually studing theories in car audio taught me this not just slaping things together and taking the manufactures word for it....
