JL is really strict about their products..and they should be. I have never had prolems with their stuff. Alot of time its shared_user abuse or poor installation. because of many unauthorized dealers selling Jl products and screwing people it makes us all suffer.

I would take it to a dealer and see what they can do. If not then suck it up and buy some new speakers from a dealer. 1 13w7 or 2 12w7's should be plenty loud on that 1000/1

 

i just saw an older 12w3v2 do the same thing on a 250/1. The previous installer had the amp set on all pass instead of lo pass.

the back of it looked new. the front looked identical to this one.
