Default W6v2 blown apart, wtf...

i had my system hooked up at ave car stereo warehouse in clearwater..

i think what happened is when they built my box they didn't secure it to the floor or they made the box to big.. and from hitting the brakes one day one side of the box moved forward and when i turned up the juice on the 1000 watt JL slash amp i think the speaker was pined between the box and trunk and it just blew apart.. i have never seen a speaker do this please let me know what you think.. it came apart all the way around

do you think i should try and get them to replace it (i didn't buy the speaker from them, just had them install it) or was this my fault or did the speaker fail...

i want more bass then these 2 w6's were doing in my trunk, does anyone know of any bassier subs i could use with my JL 1000w amp.. ps i also want to replace my alternator with a hi output one because i have a 1 fray cap now and my lights damn near turn off when the bass hits, how much does one usually cost for a 03 eclipse gts

My advice?Get something that isn't convertible if you want more bass..No offence, and not trying to be a dick wad.

That sub looks to have commited suicide. You can go back to Ave but I bet you won't get very far since it is not their equipment. If the box wasn't properly secured however, that wasn't much of a professional install.

You can get a single 13W7 to run off of that amp. Or you can step up and get a second slash 1000 and two 12W7s. If all was set up properly though, those 12w6s should have been getting down. We just did three 12W6s in the back of a brand new Escalade in a porter box running off of a single slash 1000 and it absolutely hurt when all the way up (if you have the pics Kevin, feel free to post-I don't have them handy right now).

If this was a sealed box you were using, you are nowhere near hitting the full potential of those 12W6s. You can gain a few decibels with a spec built ported and tuned box.

Unfortunately, JL will not accept any repairs from the public-warranty or not. All repairs have to go thru an authorized dealer. And if you want warranty consideration, we have to submit a copy of the original receipt showing it was purchased thru an authorized dealer.

As a side note, I have NEVER seen or sent back a W6 for doing this. Also, if I remember correctly this sub wasn't purchased thru an authorized dealer. It was an online purchase thru a grey market retailer. Feel free to bring the sub by though if this isn't the case.

Why should JL pay out of their pocket to warranty a woofer that the OP stated had broken either from a poor box design or from hitting something????

well all warranty factors would need an original receipt obviously, but ive always gone through my brothers company for any jl related problems to return them and what not, but there is a place in sarasota that also deals with jl directly and if you take old jl equipment in, they give you some type of credit towards a purchase or theyll work with you to get your product replaced.
