Minus 2 shops in the Tampa Bay Area
Oh, and on the tax front, up here in IL, I pay 3% state income tax, in addition to the regular FICA and FED that you guys pay down there. And then there are property taxes. Where I am, it is a flat 3% of sales price. So, if I pick up a condo, at these 'record low prices', for say $250k, my property tax bill is $7500 per year, or $625 a month...just for property tax! Hence, one of the reasons I am renting.
Sales tax in my area isn't bad, 7%, just like where I was in Florida, but one county south it is 8+%, and in the city of Chicago, it is like 10.25%.

your probably not going to be to happy once another shop looks at the hack job (most of what i have seen come out of there) and tell you they need to correct the install to make it work correctly.... shared_pm me i take a look at it.
Best Buy has never been as strong as Circuit City in car install business. some points I heard like no custom items if it doesn't blot in we don't install it is correct. Its not on the installers, its just the company in general. we can make amp racks and little stuff but not boxes simply b/c we sell a lot of custom boxes for vehicle online and can order them thru a manufacturer.
As far as musical instruments part is wrong. they're are not replacing 12 volt with guitars n stuff. They just invested a lot of money into 12 volt bia products, but your right staffing on the sales floor runs as a flex type dept. different areas in the store converge that dept if there are no installers on the floor. At least in the smaller stores. the bigger ones do have dedicated sales staff but those stores are like Citrus Park, Clearwater, S. Tampa, and i think Brandon but not sure.
I think the person makes the installer not the company. I'm sure some of you brick and mortor stores can attest to going thru 5 crappy installers to find 1 decent installer and sometimes you get lucky on the first shot. I work at the Spring Hill Best Buy (which is a smaller store)as and installer so i can only give definitive info that location. but hopefully that answers some questions you may have had about Best Buy.
btw yes we are selling Kicker right now and will have a best buy only Polk Audio line of speakers (which i think are restamped DB series) and their regular amps in July.

You are absolutely correct on the installer portion. Some of my best installers have been from the big box stores. And the ones who tend to not belong in a custom shop-usually know better and don't even apply. Hell, our lead installer Kevin (who is on here also) was from Circuit City.
And BTW, we just hired one of Divine Sounds GOOD installers. They had two really good ones there that put out great work, built the show winning cars, and handled all the higher end stuff. As far as the other stuff that came out of there, it was hit and miss over the years-to that I'll (as does most everyone who worked there).

yep hence why I said what I said. With our income and their tax a lot of people would be poor. I know all about NY's gayness, I used to live there, they tax everything lol The bad part is their minimum wage is the exact same as ours but those people still pay the super high taxes on everything.
Yeah it was me that called about the Lambo. Customer didn't want to go too far so ended up doing it myself. turned out pretty good.

when the ecomony turns (have space already picked out, building has been empty for 6+ years), and i open a full retail shop, my store hours would be tuesday thru sunday, 10 - 7, i feel you must open when your customers can get to you, closing at 5 and not being open the complete weekend your missing a whole bunch of customer oppertunities
2Extreme Audio in Plant City has done me well. he knows what hes doing up there. and sells stuff for good prices. if you got the money he can make you a Loud system.
