Do you understand the difference between types of speakers though? That DLS speaker is a dome, which allows for a very wide unaffected dispersion. I'm quite sure that car works just fine like that. Kickpanels do not always have to be dead on axis, every driver is different. Many drivers are happy as can be off-axis, as long as you consider absolute phase at the listening position and not just polarity at the speaker. In this case there would have likely been zero to gain by making them on axis, but more foot room would have been lost.
Just sayin....don't rag on people for doing things right.

Candeshop, you qualified for Iasca finals in SQ?

You assumed based on the pictures that the kicks were a terrible place for those mids, which also implies that the owner of the vehicle (who is also the installer) doesn't know what he is doing. Neither of those is the case, so.....pot, kettle, black.

um no where in this thread has it been said that the owner is also the installer. but ok. simply i stated that facing speakers at your feet (which would be off axis but also well below the listening level of everyone in the car (including passenger) just looks like it wouldnt be efficient for proper imaging. thanks for twisting words around to try and make someone look ignorant. i'm none of the such.

Kickpanels can provide the best imaging and staging you've ever heard in many cars. In many really great sounding cars EVERY driver is in the kick including the tweeter, and the staging can be dash top or above, with great width and depth to go with it. Acoustics is a tricky thing because your hearing is an easy thing to fool into thinking that things are not as they appear.

I don't believe your experience with being at shows, or experiencing really high end builds. This whole thread revolves around everyone convincing you that this is actually really normal. It is very accepted, and some of the best systems in the world are built like this.

Bass Boxing??????? That's SPL! We're discussing SQ on this topic. There is no place for 17 bullet tweets or 236 mids per door in SQ. But good job on the spl stuff though.

no really! i didnt know that. there is no place for a crx in sq either. everyone says they belong in the burp classes. not playing music (i consider playing music in comps as <50 hz). now if someone wants to pay for me to create an sq car by all means but until then its not popular enough to waste my time in.
