i shouldnt say i need a cap but i want one to make sure that amp runs optimally the whole time. that amp is a beast running at close to 1000 watts RMS. I do however need some Rear fills thinking about MB Quart QSD midbass set but we'll see. I agree about the power on those focals... clearer is definately the issue

838 wrms =/= 1k watts

838 watts is no problem, I ran ps2, 300/4 500/1 screens, and other misc shit with stock alternator. NO caps

CXhatchback did the same thing.

Only issue I had was when I jumped to ~1300 watts

then the alternator didnt enjoy life.

but 800 watts is no problem for a civic alternator, cx has been runign that on his cx alt for what 2 years? if you really want it to never worry go for a new alternator. or new alt, 2nd battery, isolator and caps... somewhat overkill.. but you shoudl never have to worry about power dilivery again.

I think we shoudl chat soon, I am planning on running a simialr setup, as is saggleman, witha nice quality comps up front and midbass in the rear fills, then a nice solid low end. I'm interested in seeing how the midbass compensates fomr behind the listening position, and if you wanna have fun, a good ahq meet could be amp your efreakin focals with the 300/4 I've got lying aorund

thanks for the advice... I'll see about a cap. I can get one used for 45$ so its not too big a deal. I work with saggleman so I helped him set his system up.
could use some mid bass as could mine but I think thats definately the way to go. Good SQ components up front mid bass in the back and then a nice balanced sub or subs

that is what i meant. This might start a whole new argument but an IDQ is a better sub than a JL w3. W3s are nice... just not as nice as IDQs

I regard them as almost equals, not to downplay one or talk up another, but for what the w3 and idq are, they are some of the best on the market, and I wouldnt be upset owning one over another idmax > w7 imho tho
