Default GoPro Gopro HD Motorsports HERO Camera $225 till 12/30

Buydig.com is offering 25% off several configurations of the Gopro HD HERO camera until 12/30.

For example. the Motorsports kit at GoPro HD Motorsports HERO Camera | BuyDig.com is $225 after applying code gopro25 at checkout.

Isn't this setup usually $299.00? Someone said you had to buy a better mount for outside of car but I don't know if that's true.

Is the mount that you get with this GoPro Gopro HD Motorsports HERO sufficient?

I'm also confused about the lens, can you use the 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens for seeing the road ahead and also inside to video the driver?

I think it's a little too wide sometimes. Like you can't have it forward facing and be too far behind the driver and expect to see anything. I am happy with the camera the way it comes from the factory. Just need a big SD card.

For example, suction cup mounted on trunk of M3...

Suction cup mount on rear quarter glass...

Hard mounted to interior...

So you have the Motorsports HERO and the suction cup mount with this pkg is ok for outside of the car?

The adverts say 32gb sd card, no mention on thoughputs needed. Can your basic 32 gb sd card record the highest resolution or do you need a SDHC card?

Yes, it's fine outside the car.

I have a 4GB regular SD card and it does about 30 mins of 720p at 30 fps. Never been bad at an autocross. Ran out of space a couple times I forgot to turn the camera off after a run. Need to get a bigger card, just haven't got around to it.

I killed mine using it in water. Cold water and condensation = death. Other than that the 170* fisheye lens makes the curves look straight, but great bang for the buck.

Yeah, 4gb is too small for HD video. I wonder if the regular SD card would work for 1080p or 720p at 60fps?

I have a Sandisk 16GB SDHC Extreme for my Canon, it cost over $100.00. I don't want to fool around sharing with both so that will be another expense.

You're welcome, BlueStreak. I ordered one the day of my original post.

I wonder how many of our fellow TR'ers have become self-Santa's and taken advantage of this terrific deal.

I've made my first test videos. They both were in the r5 format.

I can't get smooth playback on my PC but it's smooth on my laptop with VLC and Quicktime. The laptop is a bit faster I guess.

I am getting back into editing with my Adobe Premiere Elements. It's playback, during editing, is jerky. I guess that is not a big deal, albeit very annoying. I rendered a small segment and it seemed good.

What do you guys use for editing and production etc.? I could use all the hints I can get.
