2012 SCCA Schedule
2012 SCCA Schedule
Well the East Coast is looking great for events but not so much the West Coast. They really need volunteers to help out. Dave and Judy, Scott and Mary and Jerry Hicks are able to help but they need more. If you love the sport and can come in and be part of it, I am sure it would be welcomed.
Also Sebring has been removed from the event list which really sucks as the concrete was well worth the drive. Speaking of which much of 2012 will be on asphalt, kind of bummer for grip but not so much for tire wear.
The OCCC won't be in use till the later half of the season due to scheduling.
I know many of us that are SCCA members have already read about this in Chuck's letter but since other clubs check in to this forum I thought I'd post up to see if we can get new members and volunteers.
On the SCCA Natonals front there has been some changes as well.
Atlanta has been removed from the National Tour list of cities so the closest will be Cecil, GA which is a good time and good event site. Also it is closer to us here in Central FL.
I don't know which year this starts but no longer will be necessary to attend a National Tour to not have to pay an additional registration fee at the Nationals in Lincoln, NE. I think it starts this year but I cannot remember.
Final thoughts:
I can't wait for the new season.
I'm still looking for a female co-driver for this season. If you are a male and interested then a few of the things that are necessary is that you are able to travel and share the costs including share a hotel room with no drama. I so loved that about my last co-driver Keith - his now wife Sarah is awesome.
Happy New Year. Make it a safe one. See you on course!

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

The whole schedule is posted at http://www.cfrsolo2.com/ , but the bottom line is available volunteers have shifted emphasis east. They've tentatively scheduled dates in February and October for Brooksville, assuming they can get a crew together to run them, and a few more (Jul, Sep, and Oct) at the Orange County Convention Center near Orlando. The rest of the schedule is Deland/Geneva/Starke. No Sebring event this year, as anticipated, but weekends at Daytona 5-6 May and 29-30 Sep.

The 2 Brooksville dates mentioned are tentative only because we do not have confirmation of being able to use the site on those dates. Once confirmed these 2 Brooksville events will happen, even if there are no more west coast volunteers. If needed the east coast will come over to operate them.
More SCCA Brooksville events will be placed on the calender should more folks step forward to help out.
I know that Jerry, the Wheelers, Judy and myself are not giving up in hoping for a full schedule at Brooksville.
Please take a moment and read the update from Chuck Lutz, the CFR SOLO Chair here.

cfrsolo2.com has confirmed that the two Brooksville dates were removed due to the site not being available. They are continuing to work on new dates.
