$2012 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge - TR7
Tod and I took 4th place at the $2012 GRM Challenge in our TR7. One staffer said it was the surprise of the event, we joked that he was surprised that we did not win.
We won 3 trophies:
- Best Visual package.
- Top finishing Classic car
- 2nd place Concourse.
13.5 in the quarter mile at 105.7 mph.
Real drag slicks would have allowed Tod to launch with the Nitrous tuned on, so the car actually has more potential.

7th place autocross
7th place drags
2nd place concourse

We autocrossed on V-710s. 215/50/13. That meant welding up our own rims that would be wide enough.
I say it accelerates like a Boxster S. Tod says it handles like a Miata.
When they took our photo with the car I had to apologize for not being better looking.

4th place is pretty awesome! I wouldn't say you couldn't do better, though. More suspension tuning and maybe aero could improve the autocross finish. And, as you said, drag slicks... or could you run the autocross tires for the drag strip?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

The eBay Motors blog also has some nice photos. The photos start in the middle, so I had to go backwards to see our car. Man, if I knew they were going to take such extreme close ups I would have cleaned it more.
