The No. 31 team scored 10 bonus points today, and now trails Vaxiviere’s Daytona-winning No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac team by one point, 24-23.Filipe Albuquerque was third in the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac, followed by Chris Miller in the No. 84 JDC Miller Cadillac and the lapped Penske Acura of Helio Castroneves.

Sebring 12 Hour 11: Nasr leads with one hour remaining

Nine minutes into the eighth hour, Jan Magnussen managed to split the lead Fords, with the No. 3 Corvette passing Dirk Mueller in the No. 66 Ford. Then, Jess Krohn in the No. 24 BMW passed Mueller for third. Scott Dixon maintained a 15-second lead in the No. 67 Ford GT. At the end of the hour, it was Richard Westbrook leading in the No. 67 Ford, 16 seconds ahead of Magnussen.Lars Kern led GTD as the No. 9 Pfaff Porsche continues to lead in the feel-good story of the day. The car was destroyed late in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and sustained minor damage in a spin during today’s warm-up. Jeroen Bleekemolen was second in the No. 33 Mercedes-AMG, adding four points to Ben Keating’s Michelin Endurance Cup-leading tally, which now stands at 23.No change in LMP2, with Kyle Masson and Performance Tech leading by 19 laps.

Weather conditions are improving, but there’s a chance of major rain after 9 p.m.

The No. 66 Ford had a long run in second before losing several positions early in the hour. This was due to that car switching to a harder Michelin compound; it didn’t work, and they went back to the softer compound and held third with Sebastien Bourdais at the wheel.

Pole winner Trent Hindman regained the lead in GTD in the No. 86 Shank Acura, followed by Felipe Fraga in the No. 33 Mercedes and Toni Vilander in the No. 63 Ferrari.Andrew Evans increased Performance Tech’s LMP2 lead to 20 laps.After beginning the race under caution for 21 minutes behind the pace car, there have been only two caution periods — both for incidents involving Mazdas — adding 24 addition minutes of yellow.It’s also been relatively dry. There a few sprinkles around 5 p.m., and while heavy rain had been forecast after 9 p.m., the forecast is changing for the better, with possible showers in the final hour.The pole-winning No. 6 now driven by Juan Pablo Montoya is ninth, but nine laps behind due to lengthy stops for electrical issues. The No. 4 Corvette had a lengthy stop early in the race due to a broken alternator belt.

The 10th hour ended under caution.Pipo Derani (No. 31 Cadillac) had a 48-second lead over teammate Brendon Hartley (No. 5 Cadillac) when the yellow came out, with Renger van der Zande (No. 10 Cadillac) another 10 seconds back, the only other car on the lead lap.The Action Express cars took on fuel only during their ensuing pit stops, Derani retaining the lead, while Jordan Taylor took over in the No. 10 without losing the team’s third place.The caution allowed two DPi-class teams — both Romain Dumas (No. 54 CORE autosport Nissan) and Ricky Taylor (No. 7 Team Penske Acura) — to get back on the lead lap.Moments before the caution, Stephen Simpson (No. 84 Cadillac) had spun off in Turn 6 battling Taylor’s Acura for fourth. With one hour remaining, Nasr led Taylor by 8.082 seconds, with Albuquerque another eight seconds back.Nick Tandy charged from fourth to second on the restart, still chasing the No. 67 Ford GT but putting the No 911 Porsche in contention for GTLM honors for the first time today. John Edwards was third in the No. 24 Team RLL BMW.Mirko Bortolotti held the GTD lead in the No. 11 GRT Grasser Lamborghini, followed by Andy Lally in the No. 44 Magnus Lamborghini and Toni Vilander in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari.
