i went down and have a question...
Hey friday night I was ridding my Kawasaki Ninja 500 around a turn and basically I don't remember what happened but I ended up in the dirt and got thrown from my bike. I rolled once or twice and I don't remember my helmet ever touching the ground. I was going probably 30-35 mph before I went into the grass. I'm currious wether or not I should keep my helmet. I bought a Shoei tc-2 and it was expensive. I landed in the dirt but I seriously don't recall my head hitting the ground. I NEED to know. Do you think at the rate of this impact that my helmet's integrity has been compromised? I don't wanna ditch the helmet if its still good. Please help me out. Here's some pics of bike at the scene. Let me know what you think.
Sorry to hear about your mishap.
I believe you can send your helmet back to the manufacturer for inspection (but I can not confirm).
Glad you are ok.

Yeah all the manufactures recommend getting the helmet x rayed if it took an impact. But im not sure if you have to pay for the service or what.

Yeah, contact Shoei to ask about having the lid inspected. As for the crash, here's my theory as it's nearly caught me out a few times. You got into the turn a little bit hot, and got worried about running out of pavement. Instead of looking further up the road you started eyeing the edge of the pavement and next thing you now, there you are out of pavement.
Just a theory but considering that the bike is only a couple months old and it's squarely in the "starter bike" group, seems reasonable to me. Even if I'm wrong, looking as far ahead as you can is a good lesson to take away from the experience. This crash is only expensive if you don't learn anything valuable from it.

Helmet Replacement
Ultimately, the useful service life of a safety helmet is dependent on the intensity and frequency of its use. Helmet replacement is recommended even if only one of the under-mentioned points applies:
- The helmet was subjected to an impact.
- The comfort padding or the retention system has become loose due to heavy use or display signs of deterioration.
- The synthetic foam padding displays signs of heavy use and the helmet feels too loose. Test: with the retention system fastened, the helmet turns to the side when you gently shake your head.
- There are indentations in the EPS liner and/or white scratches can be seen on surfaces with black paint.
- Even if none of these is applied, we, SHOEI, recommend replacement in 5 years after it's first purchased at retail.
