Default Dodge Tech drag car Initial Discussion/Prelim Plans

Ford Forum's doing it, and so is the Honda/Acura Forum. Let's show them that the dodge boys can keep up!

Here's a pretty large thread on it.
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...7&page=1&pp=15

I have a 420A head from the Eclipse/Talon/Avenger that has front exhaust ports where we could mount a rather large turbo. I also have a KKK K26 Big Turbo that probably needs a rebuild. I also have an In-Line high pressure fuel pump from a HRC Turbo kit for the non turbo Eclipses but it needs the 12volt connection repaired. What do you guys think, anyone want to make a 1st Gen Neon run 10's?

I think that we could also advertise on the car and all over the forum for any parts that are donated by vendors for this project. I know I'd list them or a link for them in my sig.

great, we just need to find internals...and no you cant have my wisecos and T2s....but internals are about 800 or so...I would say go 2.4, more power from it in the end...I may be picking up another 2.4 block soon, we could use the 420A head(though I hate putting the turbo up front by the radiator)

I agree on the 2.4L but I think we should be able to rev it out to at least 7200 rpm like the 2.0 can for a nice powerband. We should throw in some SRT stock internals that we can probably pick up for cheap instead of spending on forged internals. We'll need to go big turbo if it's going to be a track car only. Stripped out down to nothing but a drivers seat and a nitrous bottle to spool the big turbo. What do we have so far that can be used?

420A front exhaust port head with old rockers and lifters (we need PT style)
Hi Flow Inline Fuel Pump (needs 12v connection repaired)
KKK K26 Big, Good for probably only 350 HP, not that big but I have it.
MSD DIS-2 (no tach adapter anymore)
Cartech FPR that comes with HRC Eclipse Turbo Kit.
52mm Manual Oil Pressure Gauge with Brass T to connect to stock sender.

FYI...stock SRT internals will fall apart if you rev over 6500 RPM...but then with a 2.4 you dont need to....it really doesnt much matter where the tach needle points when you make your maximum HP/Torque, and forget the RRFPR...its better to go with MegaSquirt...same price...much better fuel control(and spark if you want it)

Not when I already have one sitting there in my tool box for free but I do agree I would rather have some sort of controlable engine management system for it. As for the pistons and rods falling apart at 6500 rpm, seeing as stage 2 on an SRT-4 gives you a 6500 rpm redline we could take it there no problem. I know that 7200 is the stock redline on the 2.0L and that people have taken it to 8200 or so, so I would assume that the 2.4 could rev out a little, in fact I though some people had reved out their swaps a little over 7000 but maybe I am wrong on that one.
