Ford’s legendary rivalry with Ferrari in the 1960s began with a grudge and culminated in the arrival of the iconic GT40 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. That story will make its way to the big screen later this year in the 20th Century Fox film ‘Ford v Ferrari’, starring Matt Damon as designer Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as British driver Ken Miles.

Los Angeles, CA — With the premiere of Ford v Ferrari slated for Nov. 15, the film’s studio has released a second promotional trailer for the biographical drama — a 2 hour and 30 minute look at the intense relationship between Carroll Shelby (portrayed by Matt Damon) and Ken Miles (Christian Bale).

The film follows the eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by Shelby and British driver Miles, who are tasked by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca with the mission of building the Ford GT40. The dream is that the new race car can finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France — a quest made even more lucrative to Ford after Enzo Ferrari cut off Ford’s offers to buy Ferrari’s company.


We think it’s special that late racing legend Dan Gurney’s youngest son, Alex, plays his father in the film.

This film is actually made by James May (British television presenter), in the 6th episode of The Grand Tour's first season. This film explains about the titanic duel between Ford and Ferrari during the 1960s. James revisits 1964, 1965, and 1966's notoriously dangerous and world-famous 24-hour race at Le Mans.



The story takes us when Ferrari was ruling motor racing in Europe, when Ferrari is in a deep financial crisis. Then, Ford comes to the rescue, by offering Enzo Ferrari to sell his business to Henry Ford II. Everything was going well, until Enzo refused to hand over control of the racing department to Ford, and this is where the duel begins.



Henry, who is now "apoplectic with rage", ordered his employees to build him a car to annihilate the Italians at their own game. Watch more to find out what happens!
