Lakeland Jeep Club was escorted by two deputy cars from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd for a
birthday party for a 78 year old Lady. Birthday party was held in the open outdoors at
a Tastee Twist small ice cream business in Lakeland.


Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd supports automotive businesses
and drives a Jeep himself. Judd probably will be reelected as long as he wants the job.

I enjoyed hearing Milt and Dale talk about driving on the right/wrong side of the road in other countries. We were keeping our distances and I did not hear all the conversations. I heard Milt's earlier story about a can-do attitude and problem solving.....

Milt Roorda brought out his show car Model T and took pictures using trick photography and Henry Kerr's camera. Bob Vail took a few pictures to be sent with future meeting notices.

Henry Kerr and Bob Vail arrived early and started cutting a drainage path at the "notch" on the East side of Winn Dixie's parking lot. Last year we had 15 Keystone Motor Club members under a leaky tent and 4 inches of water.......until we cleared a drain path.
We know it will rain again in 2020. We know we will meet at Winn Dixie again, so we might as well clear the drain path when it's NOT raining. AND Henry Kerr has a battery powered Sawzall to make cleaning away the brush a whole lot easier.

For anyone wanting to post in the newsletter, the directions to post something is around post #25-26.
If a member just posts "Hi" you will get AUTOMATIC updates when anyone else posts....including this recap of the club meeting. There will be no spamming by Keystone Motor Club.

Jan had her Aston Martin DB7 parked with hood open, and I parked my Dodge Charger
with hood open also. Milt Roorda brought his Model T show car, Bob Carter brought his 57 Chevy, and Dawn Wood brought her 1948 Chevy Coupe..

We paid Milt Roorda back the $50 for the KMC sign which Jan Nelson got permission for KMC to post next to where KMC meets. Milt negotiated some extra KMC signs with heavy duty brackets to be plugged into the ground on meeting days.

Phone numbers on the sign will allow someone to call anytime about meetings, even when we ourselves,are not there. $10 was donated by Earl Baker at a previous meeting, $20 was donated by Henry Kerr, Bob Vail matched that with $20. Milt Roorda and Bob Vail will be mounting the sign on a post after some prefabbing of the brackets.

Hi All
I am looking for some advice/help from someone.
I did some electrical work under the dash of my 73 Roadrunner and to do so I needed to remove the AM/FM radio.
When I Put the radio back in the dash, all I got from it was static. That usually means a poor ground or the antenna connection is compromised. Both are solid connections.

Does anyone have experience with older radios or know someone who does that may be able to help me ???

While my connections might be solid, I would try another antenna plugged into the radio and held outside the car. I would extend the antenna, hold it at a 45 degree angle, and slowly point the tip in a complete circle to see if the static gets louder when aimed in a certain direction. I would put alligator clips on some 16 gauge wire and clip the actual radio casing straight to the battery ground terminal.

Radio interference is all around us.

Not knowing what type interference may be in my garage, moving the car to another location
might get the radio away from it.

While some people visually check the radio fuse, I put a volt/ohm meter on each end of the fuse
and do a continuity check.

I have had good luck with removing fuses and brushing the metal shiny, and then using an ELECTRICAL grease (not wheel bearing grease) and then re-plugging the fuse into the holder. With a round fuse I rotate it a couple times in the holder.

If I'm not the original owner, I also check for an in-line fuse in addition to the factory fuse.
Just unscrew the black or clear nylon holder, and do a continuity check, of the fuse before replacing the fuse.

Some radios have a long plastic plug with several wires plugging into the radio back.
I check to insure that the long plastic plug has not come loose.

When cut on, does the radio light up?
When the dial is rotated, does the needle move to another position or stay in the same place?
