Coming on March 20 will be a Lorna Doone Party!
Can you believe today is the first day of March? We have been busy planning the March 20 Keystone Motor Club car show with advertising fliers and new letters to our members. The February 20 car show was a spectacular success with over 36 cars, and about 70 sum people. We went through 48 cups of coffee and six dozen cookies. It was fun.

Now we are gearing up for the next big event...the Lorna Doone Party. I was just plain tired of St. Patrick and all of his snakes in Ireland, so I opted for a more feminine version of an Scotch/Irish tale. Most of our members are just curious as to who Lorna Doone was so it is enough to get them to come to the party. I'm toying with the idea of dressing like Lorna in a green jumper with tartan plaid sash with leafy head band. Pair that up with some green Irish socks and granny work shoes and some will laugh if they want to or they can dress up and we will all laugh together!
We will flag you in over the finish line!

Excellent "pay" and benefits! (Sort of) We don't collect any "dues". Shocking!
If you hang out with people who are in a great mood at Keystone Motor Club, you never get old!

Keystone Motor Club is looking for a few good car folks.

1. Flagger person:

We are flagging people in as they arrive and cross the finish line.
Easy to do. Wave the flag up and down in a figure 8,
(just like NASCAR lol ) smile and wave to people. Have a good time!
And YES! we have a finish line! Painted on a clear piece of carpet runner,
and that's what it says! Really. Early roll in on 3rd Saturdays is 930AM and by 1030A most people have arrived. This job can be done even while you are walking around or BSing with a fellow car person or two....sometimes we have several people rotating and alternating as Flagger person.

We roll up the finish line and take it home with us when we pack up and we leave around noon
to the next car show or get some lunch in Winn Dixie's deli.Sometimes the Flagger also signs people in.

2. Essential Signin Person (the ESP)

We have two signin clipboards. One is on the refreshments table or on the WOK table.
the other one is carried around by the roving ESP, a person who asks people
(after they park and open their hood) to write in their Name.....Kind of car.......and
Email address.

A CLOSED hood is just a parked car, but an OPEN hood is a car show!
Drive what you want. We have no judgements, and a perfect "show car" is not required.
All attendees get our meeting notifications, and newsletter, which includes
articles on cars, how to's and other car "stuff". (Which can easily be read or ignored...lol)

WE DON'T SPAM ANYONE AND YOUR NAME IS THE ONLY ONE ON YOUR KMC EMAIL.

We are real car folks and no one has judgements about what you drive.
Anything with a motor is close enough for the Keystone Motor Club.

3. Want to be a WOK? What's a WOK?

The WOK are the Women Of Keystone. Step up to the WOK table and say HI!
This is a special position. This is a fun job...if it can be called a job... lol Not only will you help KMC with the car meet as Flagger or ESP, but your suggestions are always welcome as to new program ideas for each meeting. There are lots of little things that the WOK do. The 2nd sign in clipboard is on the WOK table, and greeting people with a smile is one of the best things that we do.
This is a good way to meet people, learn names of people and BS about WOK stuff or even car stuff......Bring a chair if you want to, or you can walk around.

We are a Highly Informal, Strictly Voluntary organization, and when someone sees something
that needs to be done, jump in and do it. Have an idea? Tell us about it! We are all on the Executive Planning Committee as EPC's! Gen does an excellent job, and is an asset to KMC and the WOK.

Sometimes the WOK helps Gen with the 50/50, door prize drawings, passes out the prizes, greets other women and introduces herself to everyone. For March 20 we are wearing green even if it's only a dollar bill binned to your shirt.
If you have a significant other, dress 'em up (or not) and bring 'em with you!

4. Video Person? Photographer? Publicity? Idea Person?

Isabella is our original photographer and she created our Facebook Community Page.
You can find us under "Keystone Motor Car Club". Send us a "like" or two to some of the pictures.

This photo was taken at the monthly Keystone Motor Club's, “Lorna Doone” party. It was a great day!

We had 40 cars and over 60 people. Hot coffee, hot tea and a bunch of Lorna Doone cookies were the hit of the party. Lorna Doone showed up wearing a green jump suit with a colorful tartan. Ricky Veneziale drove his rare '63 Ford Falcon Ranchero over at 930AM to flag in antique and classic cars over the finish line as they arrived at the car show. Bob Vail in support of Lorna's creativity had a name tag that said "Lorna's Dude"
LOL and a green dollar bill stapled to his pocket.....

29 cars officially entered the blue ticket NO ENTRY FEE car show. It was open to Street Cars, Daily Drivers, Show Cars, Race Cars,.... anything with a motor. Best of show winner Angel Negron (Datsun 260 Z) took home the Trophy and Best of show winner Mark Coppa (Mercedes street car) chose a $25 Rock Auto Parts Automotive Gift Certificate. Angel Negron came with his son just to look at cars and so did Mark Coppa....until they both got the no-cost blue ticket...and WON!

A Thank you to Ed and Jeanne Montgomery (Tampa Bay Antique Classic Vehicle Club and Keystone Motor Club) who came in their Mustang and helped with the drawing and sold $1 red tickets for Door prizes and the $139 collectible. The "guaranteed $25" 50/50 actually paid $51 to the winner. Gen Rummy and Jeanne Montgomery ran the drawing. Vic Piano Founder of Cigar City Flatheads announced all drawing winners. His very rare V12 Flat Head Ford is featured in Florida Car Shows latest online newsletter.

Keystone Motor Club member Ross and Yvette Deshenes green 1966 GMC pickup Truck is pictured on the front of Motoring Tampa Bay Magazine as well as on the inside front cover. It was good to see KMC founders Sam and Carol Prentice stopping by to say hello.

Very nice coverage. I always enjoy this show . I was wondering why
you don’t have it on the west side of the parking lot. It is usually less
busy there and would be very visible by people traveling on Gunn.
Where it is now, travelers on Gunn have no idea a car show is there.

Thank you sir, for the feedback. We thought about that. You are correct. We would be more visible, and we would attract more attention. So why didn't we change after 2+ years?

We thought about moving to the other side during some parts of the year.

If we move from the Winn Dixie side, we may have to deal with all the other businesses
and things might get complicated. So far where we are works pretty good.

The manager of Winn Dixie is a member of Keystone Motor Club
and we appreciate it that we have a nice place to meet where at any moment we can
go inside to get a soda or something to eat at the deli. I've been running late sometimes and Winn Dixie makes some pretty good fresh sandwiches. Sometimes I get some strawberries or grapes to munch on during the drive to the next show.
For those times that we need extra supplies for Keystone meetings, we have them right there.
It makes sense to some people to make one trip on Saturday to go to a car show, grab some lunch, and get groceries in one trip. This was not a paid endorsement.... lol

I had a good time at the annual Concours d'legance that you put on at Tampa Bay Downs
down the road from the car meet. I got a lot of nice pictures of nice cars there,
with enough parking space that I didn't get concerned about getting hit by somebody's door.

Since you are a former broadcast guy, you have a voice projection edge over me
and you are entertaining, too! Vic, you are on the hook now.
I hope you continue to be announcer for us at Keystone meetings.

'63 Ford Falcon Ranchero and being our guest Flagman on March 20.
People loved it!
A lot of people were smiling as they were driving in and saw the flag waving.
Having fun is what it's about. I also like it that when we mentioned you,
