Ladies Day at Keystone Motor Club held at Winn Dixie, 17649 Gunn Highway/ Van Dyke Road
May 15 2021...and what we did.

It was the best car show ever!

On the 3rd Saturday, we listen to our music, show our cars, tell our tales,
and for a brief moment, we don't get any older. Welcome to the Keystone Zone!
WE are the car scene!

The setup crew arrived early at 930AM to find that there were PEOPLE arriving early to
get the cookies and hot coffee. We shifted the meeting area about 30 feet for better visibility and a few other reasons. We now have 3 TALL coffee pots, and 5 more hangout spaces.

We are now the first thing that people see when entering Winn Dixie from Van Dyke Road.
And we still wave people across the finish line!
Wave to Flagman Rick the Rickster! He needs an assistant and we have a
second checkered flag. (hint, hint)

We gave away a big $49.99 Igloo Cooler as our Red Ticket grand prize and the Guaranteed $25 in the 50/50 paid $31 to the winner. Past door prizes include: $25 Gift Certificates, $30 Yeti cups, a $150 collectible, a $139 collectible, A Dual Power Air Compressor, and coming soon will be a new-in-the-box original packaging, Guaranteed For Life Snap-On brand flashlight, part number 92150....and who knows what else will come from our sponsors.

We also have some 3 foot tall trophies to give away when the Blue Ticket No Entry Fee car show reaches 60 cars. 33 cars entered the free show on May 15, plenty of people attended the Keystone Motor Club meeting, not everyone entered the show and we had a lot of visitors just looking at cars and having a good time. Close to 50 cars. Ever see a Nissan Figuero? How about a Ferrari F430?
How about in the same parking lot?

We welcome anything with a motor (it IS the Keystone MOTOR Club) including a daily driver, and a substitute car if your real car doesn't want to get wet that day. Lol... And there is NO ENTRY FEE!

Jon L won Best of Show with his El Camino and got the trophy. Paul Luetgen won Best of Show with his 55 Chevy and got the $25 automotive gift certificate. We honored Herb and Carol Wagner by naming it the Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show.

As promised it was Ladies Day and the WOK/Women of Keystone gave away Champagne,
some chocolate, many scarves of your choice for every lady attending, some really nice potted plants, and I don't know what all....One of the guys won one potted plant for his wife and another one maybe for his girl friend....I said that as a joke. LOL

Gen acquired and used another bull horn, instead of using the Mick Jagger microphone from last time..... a woman with TWO bull horns is a dangerous (and wonderful) thing LOL

As we were giving out potted plants to the ladies, and some door prizes, a few cars cranked up to leave for another car show......forgetting that we had not yet had the drawing for the 50/50!
I'm sure the $31 they missed will be well spent by the 50/50 winner....

On 29 May at 11211 Sheldon Road, American Legion is feeding ALL CAR SHOW ENTRANTS,
and not charging us anything to enter the car show. You betcha Keystone Motor Club will be there.
2nd Saturday monthly free Breakfast is at Insty Tune on Dale Mabry. We go from 7AM to 9 or so.

DEARBORN, Mich. – Demand for the Mustang Mach-E has skyrocketed, and 70 percent of customers who ordered the vehicle are new to Ford. To cater to this ever-increasing interest, Mustang Mach-E is now traveling across America to demonstrate the capability and technology of Ford’s all-electric SUV.

Ocean to Ocean Reimagined showcases what the all-electric Mustang Mach-E can do with product experiences along the way to demonstrate its style and features. The drive kicks off today at Classic Car Club Manhattan in New York City. Stops include Amelia Island off the Florida coast; Washington, D.C.; Charlotte, North Carolina; Atlanta and Las Vegas before concluding in Seattle. In total, the all-electric SUV will drive nearly 6,500 miles across 20 states in a span of 50 days.

“More than a century after the Model T brought mobility to the masses, Mustang Mach-E is injecting thrill and passion to fully electric vehicles,” said Jason Castriota, Ford’s global brand director, Battery Electric Vehicles. “Ocean to Ocean Reimagined is helping to amplify awareness around Mustang Mach-E and what it can do. We hope this coast-to-coast journey – much like the original Ocean to Ocean race commissioned by Henry Ford in 1909 – becomes a truly unique, exhilarating and entertaining chapter in the Ford and Mustang story.”

On June 1, 1909, Henry Ford entered two factory Model T cars in the first U.S.-based transcontinental road race. Beginning in New York City, the race tested the endurance and capability of a relatively new technology – the automobile. Twenty-three days and 4,106 miles later, Ford Model T No. 2 crossed the finish line at the Seattle World’s Fair. A re-creation of that winning Model T will lead the two Mustang Mach-E SUVs out of New York and escort them to the finish line in Seattle.

U.S. customer deliveries of Mustang Mach-E started in December, with Mustang Mach-E GT and Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition arriving beginning this fall. Customers can order the Mustang Mach-E on Ford Motor Company's website.

Lyn St. James Revs Up Ford Fans As Honoree At 2021 Amelia Island

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – After being one of the last major automotive events in the United States to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic last season, the annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance was delayed this year from its usual March dates to a late-May weekend, and thus became one of the first big shows to return to the 2021 event schedule. And what a return it was for Blue Oval fans, as Amelia celebrated 2021 honoree and Ford racing pioneer Lyn St. James with a special display of several of her historic race cars. Ford Performance was there to support the Ford footprint -- and with a variety of events on the Amelia Concours weekend, classic and collectible Fords found their way both onto the award stage and into the limelight.

Ford Performance staffer Eric Pasteiner and Ford Performance photojournalist correspondent Jeff Burgy attended the 2021 edition of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance with cameras in hand, and provided us with their 2021 event photos for you to enjoy in the combined photo gallery below:

This year’s Indy 500 was one for the ages. There’s a lot to get through in our post-race column that wasn’t covered in the various stories that landed on RACER.com right after Helio Castroneves’ win, so let’s start with:

THE EXPENDABLES

If we’re talking expendables and retreads, the guy who just won the Indianapolis 500 lost his job in November after 20 years with the same company, and was replaced by a newer model. And the guy who conjured exceptional speed for Helio Castroneves, who spent the last few seasons being moved around from one underperforming driver to another, fell out of favor as a full-time race engineer with the main team.

So together, first with Castroneves being signed to a six-race deal alongside Jack Harvey at Meyer Shank Racing, and second, with Andretti Autosport’s Mark Bryant dispatched to MSR’s extra part-time car, it would be fair to say the Brazilian and New Zealander duo weren’t exactly in high demand. Which makes the outcome of the 105th Indy 500, with the driver Team Penske no longer wanted, and the supremely talented race engineer bumped to end of the depth chart, one hell of a redemption story.

Look elsewhere on the timing stand, and former Chip Ganassi Racing lead mechanic Adam Rovazzini was the strategist for Castroneves on the No. 06 Meyer Shank Racing Honda. Across the pit crew, series veteran Didier Francesia returned and was rewarded mightily; Dario Franchitti’s former CGR mechanic Kevin O’Donnell moved across for MSR’s sports car program a few years ago and knocked out quick pit stops, and more talent– young and old – were part of this unique squad.

As Shank revealed after the race, only two full-time employees have been assigned to the No. 06 program; the rest were brought in on short-term contracts or borrowed from MSR’s IMSA program.

One of the full-timers was Helio’s chief mechanic, Matt Swan, who we wrote about earlier in the month, who joined MSR after 19 years and 11 months with Ganassi, and was reunited with his old driver after the two grew close in 1999 at the former Hogan Racing CART IndyCar team.

For Swan, who’d hoped to put his days as a mechanic behind him with the new opportunity as MSR’s shop manager, coming out of pit crew retirement paid off as he earned his first win – ever – as an IndyCar crew chief, at the biggest race in the world.

“I just want to get Helio his fourth Indy win,” Swan said of the motivation behind reuniting with his old pal Castroneves, and it’s exactly what they achieved.
