Following the March 18 Keystone Car Meet and Car Show......

1.Thank You to Yellow Bird Art Studios for using the parking lot at 16921 Gunn Hwy 33556 Odessa/Tampa Keystone.
We will be back on April 18 3rd Saturday. 930AM Early Roll in.

Thanks to Connor Boggs and Danni Wells for working today to make the car show a success.
Thanks to Waynereisrealtor@gmail.com for the donation of a dozen doughnuts.
Thanks to Bob Carter for the gift certificate donation.

Thank you to Danni Wells for her donation to Keystone Motor Club and for printing hundreds of publicity flyers

for distribution at car shows.

2.Keystone is running a CAR SHOW on MAY 6 at the Recreation Center/Park, 17928 Gunn Hwy., Odessa, FL 33556,
Keystone is NOT, NOT running the Civic Association Chili Contest (presuming they will be ready by then)
If Keystone attendees want to kick some butt chili-wise,, here's some championship chili recipes, or use your own secret recipe.

They have only 3 chili contest entries so far...(gonna be easy to win).....and are not charging for the chili. Woo Hoo! Lunch!

World champion recipes are also posted on the Chili Appreciation Society website.
AND AND AND I have the secret set of Civic Assn chili rules which I can email to you....LOL on request.

------------------------------------------------------
3.Upcoming specials...
April 15 Keystone Goes to the Birds...bird houses...ceramic collectible birds.....
"cackle berries" with give-aways inside...tickets, prizes, money....

May 20 is Keystone's Ladies Day and you don't have to be a mother.

We are planning on scarves and flowers for all ladies. Door prizes to include Liz Taylor perfume, jewelry...

June 17 is Man Cave Day. Some Macho door prizes on that day for real men, and some for women too...

July 15 3rd Saturday, it has been suggested that we have a hot dog cookout, and we need someone
to plan and coordinate how we make it happen and what it should include. Should we include a covered dish
and/or beans, and what else?

------------------------------------------------------
4. It helps if you know each other well enough and long enough...
Gary and Charlotte with a surprise ending!

------------------------------------------------------
5.Amy Clark, Keystone member; I thought about you tonight and started reading at post # 8 of this thread.
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/n...te=1&p=9446221
----------------------------
As we approach Christmas, I think your mother would be proud of you
and glad that you became a philosopher.
----------------------------
I'm proud of you that your pictures on Google have now passed 8 MILLION VIEWS.

and that I was in Sanford Florida for the Misfits car show the day you took the first one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.Congratulations to David Caldevilla on having your 66 Red Vette in the center spread of Motoring Tampa Bay.
We have a lot of nice cars (and a lot of nice people) that show up for Keystone Motor Club on 3rd Saturdays.

It was a great time today, and I thank all of you for coming out.

Have a great day! bobfixesitup@yahoo.com 813-839-4281

A Keystone Thank You to Gen Rummy for the contribution of office supplies.
I took your suggestion related to emailing Keystone Members.

Than you to Danni Wells for the donation and for the scarves to Keystone Motor Club.

Thank you to Wesley Shallow for the contribution to Keystone Motor Club.

A dozen doughnuts were brought over by Wayneriesrealtor@gmail.com.

Danni worked the 50/50 and registration along with Connor Boggs. and took pictures.

Danni also created the flyers which I passed out in Tarpon springs later that day.

For upcoming Ladies Day on MAY 20 Every woman who visits Keystone will get her choice of scarves
and maybe more.

Dan and Gail Holsen have already posted FEB 18's pictures on Facebook's "Keystone Motor Car Club Members"
Your car is there. You should join us there. Over 190+ members strong. You have a lot of friends!
Bob Lathrop's Road Runner is the current cover page.

--------------------------

1. Keystone motor club is thinking about a free hot dog cookout, maybe around July.

but....want to help us out?

If Keystone pays for the hot dogs, drinks, buns, etc, we need someone to act as supervisor/officer of the day/planner? Who is

an organized person? planning? maybe a covered dish? desserts? we are looking and thinking,.... maybe some suggestions for a place to hold it? Can we get a grill if Keystone supplies the propane?

Anyone have a back yard? Bring our own lawn chairs? Maybe warmer months? Maybe July? What are your thoughts? Should we start a list of supplies to get? What should we do? Should we do it at all? Any ideas?

---------------------------
2. Upcoming is the Civic Association Spring Festival. Maybe after 1st of April. Keystone paperwork is already done and we will be having an informal car show and exhibit that day at the park near Van Dyke Road, mostly 70's and earlier. This part caught my attention.......

5. Exhibitors may not charge the public (no sales) for their products, services, or chili. To me that sounds like lunch!... I'M IN! WOO HOO! I have asked for the rules...

---------------------------------------

Super glue and other stuff is a hightech repair for your car...for some things, at least.

Port Richey Rod Run at Coast Buick GMC May 13 2023... Lots of winners.....and some of them got trophies

It was a great day!
I was not the first to arrive.

I was driving North on US19 when my phone went off.
I had sent out all the invitations mentioning the 9AM early Roll-in and it was not yet 9 O'clock.

It was Mark Hover from Coast Buick GMC.
Mark said: "Bob, we have 35 cars in line."

I said: "Mark, I'm 10 miles out and on US19. We have 50 cars already pre-registered.
I have the sign-in sheet on the seat beside me already done with confirmation numbers listed,
and I will be there soon. MJ and myself will get going on signing people in just as soon as I get there."
"Today is going to get a lot busier." .......And it did. lol Boy did it get busy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

At that point a time warp opened up on US19 and an empty lane appeared.
Mentally I heard Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise saying "Warp 7 Mister Sulu"

and US19 looked just like it does on TV's Star Trek.......but only in my mind.....lol

I pulled into Coast Buick GMC through the Collision Center Entrance on Graphic Drive and parked my Charger SXT.

Coast had set up several huge Blue and White striped tents and early arrivals were parked in the shade.
It looked like the circus was in town. Some people were doing the final wipe down on their show cars.

Some car clubs had their lawn chairs already clustered in circles under the shade trees and were wearing their car club shirts.
Display cards were in front of cars. My gosh those cars looked good. It was a great car scene.

Coast had the doors open on a Pre-Owned car and was playing music on the patio next to where

show entrants were getting something cold to drink, and where later on, a huge grill would be
cooking Free Burgers and Hot Dogs with chips and drinks for all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

MJ had already set up the registration table on the main building walkway.
Thank goodness my system takes 30 seconds to register a show car.
MJ was tearing off the Free Blue Tickets as fast as I could write on them,
and while I was writing on them, entrants were throwing them into the huge
clear plastic barrel. Thanks to MJ's help that line disappeared pretty darn fast.

Mark Hover of Coast had acquired a huge handful of $25 gift certificates from local merchants,

a stack of $69 Coastal Oil Change Service Certificates, and a $100 dinner Certificate

from Glory Days.Restaurant. I was getting hungry already.

Coast Buick GMC had bought 24" two post Best Of Show trophies which were still in my back seat

but which would be placed on the registration table later for presentations.

Connor Boggs, from Keystone Motor Club helped me with the Red Ticket Door Prizes and the first
Red tickets went to some members of the Christian Hot Rod Association who were sponsoring the

After-Party at the 50's Diner on US19 (A Florida Attraction).

MJ was drawing Red Tickets at two or three per hour and we were having Gift Certificate winners
coming up to the registration table to claim their $25 door prizes. The Wellington Car Club was seen there more than once.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Not only did we give away some very nice door prizes, but the plastic barrel of Red tickets
was filling up with cash.
We planned at 1:30PM to give away half of that cash for The Club Participation Award.
I know, I know.

At some shows they collect $2,000 from the clubs and give away $100 for Club Participation.
Well Buddy, If I get 2 grand in the clear plastic barrel, I'm giving away HALF of it!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

General Sales Manager Cameron Ker told me later that he counted about 175 show cars.
I believe him. Not every body signed in. We had a lot of people who drove in to hang out with their friends
show their car, and enjoy the car scene............ but didn't sign in for trophies or get a ticket for door prizes.

Coast had kept the Collision Center Parking open for spectators, but it did not matter if a person showed or spectated
as long as people were having a good time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I got time to eat a couple of those big burgers around 12:30 while talking to the black guys who were cooking
them in the shade on that big grill at the Pre-Owned patio. By 12:30 they were on their 3rd box. They were cranking them out!
.....then I had to get back over to where MJ was busy at registration stapling more Red Door Prize tickets
to the bulletin board and giving away more Gift Certificates.

We unwrapped and set the Trophies on the table and Coast's Mark Hover and Cameron Ker

did the presentations to....Wayne Reis, Nick Barasso, Ken Mckavoy and Harold Hendrick. (I don't know how to spell)

Click on the winners pictures below and they get bigger.

I had brought over some Hot Wheels cars to give away to kids.

We still had a few $25 Gift Certificates and gave them away too.

Afterwards I hung out with the Oldsmobile Club under the Coast shade trees

before heading to the After-Party down at the 50's Diner. (A Florida Attraction)

-----------------------------------------------------

On next 3rd Saturday... May 20, Keystone Motor Club meets and shows
at Yellow Bird Studios, 16921 Gunn Hwy 33556, Odessa/Tampa/Keystone. Our plans are to give away a scarve
and a Rose to every woman who visits us, so bring your Mom out to a car show. !

Blow your horn driving by, or back in, open the hood, and hang out with us for a while.
Early roll-in is 9:30AM.......and.......There is no entry fee. We draw for door prizes at 11AM.

-Bob

Default Thank you Danni, for the quick pictures. They look good . I will put them to good use

From May 19 2023........................

Thank you Danni, for the quick pictures. They look good . I will put them to good use
Thank you Danni, for the quick pictures.
They look good and I will put them to good use.

They are now in the website newsletter....as of 9 march
This thank you email may have been stuck in drafts instead of sent mail.

Thank you for helping Keystone Motor Club yesterday
including the generous donation into the 50/50.
I like it that you also shared pictures from your trip with me.
You always do things that interest me.
--------------------------------

From KMC I went by Phi Beta Kappa to brainstorm for an upcoming
"Drive In Movie Night" they want to start up.on Friday nights, maybe once per month.
He is more proactive using Facebook as a recruiting tool than someone else is, and has a huge network .

Sharing our knowledge together, and passing out flyers to new people at a new event,
PBK and KMC will both prosper. We will see......
---------------------------------
From there I drove to New Port Richey to Integrity Tire to drop off some of the latest
"Motoring Tampa Bay" magazines for Jim's customers.

His 10 year old Daughter races that miniature Junior Dragster, and right now is 2nd in points.
Sometimes he brings daughter and car to Keystone. Each magazine also had one of our flyers.
Jim says GatorNationals attendance was lowered..and they charged $100 to spectate. Gasp!

I need to do more advertising locally about giving away free admission tickets to KMC's car show
to spectators.

Then to the 50's Diner...a Florida Attraction...lol...to hang out at their weekly Saturday cruise in, and
also to eat a good hamburger and some home made vegetable Barley soup.

Every magazine I left there next to Elvis (who talks to you when you leave) had a KMC flyer inside of it.
---------------------------------------------------
After church, I shot some screws into the sign at Yellow Bird to make hanging our banner easier/faster
on 3rd Saturdays, over the new tenant's sign. You may have noticed their roofers truck in the lot.
----------------------------------------------------
KMC is not the only club with recent low turnout affected maybe by higher gas prices which slows participation.
Wiregrass normally has 4 blocks of cars. Today they had one block of cars.

Briefly talked to a member of Tampa Bay Classic Car Club....he says their only activity left
is dinner after their Monday night cruise in....that's all they do anymore. I need to pass a
few flyers there before they close for good.
Too bad.......They have a lighted DJ trailer that might need a good home....which opens up a world
of possibilities for KMC and maybe no more loading and unloading my car every month.
-----------------------------------------------
My buddy says the NSRA Fairgrounds annual show is closing. That leaves Tampa Knights with only their
annual hot dog cookout and if that's all they do, ...more bad news.
------------------------------------------------
On a more positive note, Baylife Church has reduced their entry fee this year to $10....and are claiming
a projected increase in number of show cars. Robert may be stopping by KMC to promote it. I may ask him for a free
spot to promote KMC as a reciprocal arrangement.
------------------------------------------------
Small savings here and there help me to pay the $50 per week I put into the gas tank
while passing out flyers for Keystone Motor Club.
My second week of visiting 5 Saturday car shows again after printing a couple hundred flyers again.
We will miss you on April 15, and we will be thinking about you.
-Bob
