Guess you better take pretty much every electronic device (including your computer) out and mail it overseas, then. Oh, go to town cleaning out your fridge and pantry - send all that food back, too. I'm sure lots of your furniture needs to be sent back - couches, beds, etc. Don't forget to look in your medicine cabinet and send back most of the junk in there.

JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE. Stop being scared of a global economy. This is how the world is - its one big giant market and people are free to buy, sell, or do whatever they want no matter where they are. Its called progress.

Well, I try to avoid AB products like the plague.....

But, this is a sad commentary for our country.....first they send our jobs overseas....now they are selling of our iconic American companies.....this country is going in the shitter and no one is getting rich except rich, elite executives....

If all the profits and all the jobs are going overseas, what's left for us non-elite folks here?

And, this company is not Belgium, it's a Belgium/BRAZILIAN company.....

There are nothing wrong with the job markets or the pay in America. Just because you're alive doesn't guarentee you a good job. Some people have no skills or just get a shitty hand in life and have to deal with a shit job. Thats just how life is.

There is also no realistic way to stop the movement of jobs to the most efficient place for them to move to.

Trades can't be outsourced. Most in-house IT services can't be outsourced. Hospitality jobs can't be outsourced. Government jobs can't mostly be outsourced. Military jobs can't be outsourced. I mean thats just what was on the tip of my fingers, I didn't even think before typing that.

The whole 'they took our jobs' thing is pretty much bullshit. We took their jobs, too. The days of there being strict borders between countries are long gone. Adapt or die.

/\/ easily said..............unless your one of those people thats lost a job to some indian (india) because they will work a phone bank for next to nothing. As far as the global economy goes, seems we are getting the short end of the stick.

Talk like that makes me wonder why people today have no AMERICAN pride.........

Dude....I work in entry/mid-level IT. Want to talk to me about outsourcing jobs? I'm still not bitching.

There are plenty of decent paying jobs out there.

As far as the global economy goes, there is no 'short end of the stick'. It will ultimately balance out in the aggregate. They ALWAYS do. They have to.

You know why people are afraid of the 'global economy'? It's because up until recently, the whole planet followed the U.S. WE were the leaders. Accepting the 'global economy' means that we're stepping down from that position.

And who would do that voluntarily? NO ONE. It means we're losing control - and THAT is what scares people. When our money becomes worth dirt on the global market and foreigners come in and buy the place up (and they are), all of a sudden America isn't all that American anymore.

Do you have a mortgage right now? Do you have money in a bank? Do you have any investments? If you answered 'yes' to any of those things, then you'd better be at least a little concerned about what's happening to the US these days. We're in for a ride...

And BTW - the US has almost always made the BEST stuff. Not the cheapest- the BEST.

Eh, we were bound to lose control. Nobody is going to control the global economy, thats why its going to be a global economy. I'm not scared of that in the least.

No, the US has not always made the best stuff. Not by far. Cars, in fact, are a great example of that. Up until recent years it was pretty hard to argue against the superiority of imported vehicles. Sometimes we do, but just as often we don't.

I answered yes to two of the three, and my investments are doing just fine because my financial advisor is a smart cookie. While I'm concerned in the short term, the long term will be fine.

This stuff has me freaked out quite a bit, and like I said, I think it's the speed of the change that is causing it. Honestly, I like this country pretty much the way it is, and to think that it *IS* going to change doesn't really sit too well.

Part of embracing the global economy means investing in foreign markets. As long as your advisor knows that, and I'm sure he does, you'll probably end up with a lot of dollars later on...though it's tough to say what THEY'LL be worth.

I STILL think American stuff is the best. Cars, maybe not now, but high end electronics, guitars, and SHOES! Yes, my New Balance shoes are made in the USA! And they did fit better than the Nikes I tried...haha
