17's @ front & 18's @ back?
17's @ front & 18's @ back?
Lookin' for a little advice before I give my GT some new shoes ... I've heard that 17's in the front and 18's in the rear look good but it's hard to imagine it looking more appealing that 18's all around. Can anyone shed a little light on my predicament? Thanks.
-Btw ... what do you all think of riveted bullitts? Though I would want them in black.

In order for your ABS to not go haywire,. you'd need all 4 tires to be of the same diameter,.. which would mean in order to have 17 up front and 18 out back,.. you would need to have a lower profile tire out back. That IMO would look pretty gay.
If your looking for the big and little look,.. just go with 15's. If you go with 18's,.. your tire choices are more limited (for the track) then if you had stayed with 17's.
There is a company in Sarasota,.. (for the life of me I cant remember their name right now) but they they have free next day shipping,.. and for roughly $430 - $450 shipped to your door you can get almost any version of Ford wheels out for SN95 Mustangs in 17x9 up front and 17x10.5 out back. You run a 275/40 tire up front and 315/35 out back. The tires will cost you more then the wheels did (If you get good ones).

Hmmm ... that is true but I'd like to stay with the street look on this pair of rims and would merely swap them for Welds when I take it to the track.
I have a company in mind where I can get all 4 rims (2 18x9's and 2 18x10's) for a mere $510. Will probably go with 255 in the front, being I'd prefer not to feel every indentation in the road, & 305's in the rear. I know the cost for tires is a little pricier for 18's but I love the look too much lol.
What's your opinon on rivets?

I was thinking the same but I'm meticulous with keeping the car clean anyway. I'm the kinda guy that uses q-tips when washing for those tight spaces lol. I just don't know if this body style could pull them off effectively like the S197's can. I mean I know it'll still look decent but idk if it'll look as clean as the smooths. Don't suppose you have any past pics with your riveted rims do ya?

And you know 255 is the width of the tire, right? It's the smaller number that is the sidewall height.

We had reproduction Cobra-R wheels (from said Sarasota company) that had bullets in them. We finally went with ceramic brake pads because the dust in the bullets were such a PITA to keep clean.
What ever wheel size you go with,.. just stay with the same profile on all 4 corners. Your going to feel the bumps more with an 18 inch wheel and lower profile tire. If you go with taller tires you may have issues up front with them rubbing on the inner fender well. On 17x9 wheels up front,.. 275/40 is about the max you can go,.. and even those are hit or miss if the car is lowered. 315/35 will soak up more then a 295/30 will. Not sure I've ever seen a 305 on an 18inch wheel out back.
You could keep the front bullet wheels you have now and go with a 10.5 wheel out back. With a polished lip the look is pretty sweet IMO.
