Default Advice pls

I have a 90 5.0 and i think the fuel pump has gone bad. I let the car sit for a while and now I am not getting any pressure to the fuel lines. Does anyone know an easy way to test to see if the fuel pump is working?

That or unplug the incoming fuel line from the fuel rail and turn the key on. If fuel shoots out then pump is working.

Many reasons to prevent the fuel pump from working. Fuel relay,.. clogged screen,.. clogged pump,.. pump mechanical failure,. computer relay failed causing fuel pump relay to fail,.. I'm sure there are a dozen more.

If the pump indeed isnt coming on,.. there is a test harness under the hood in front of the driver side hood hinge. I dont remember exactly which port is for the fuel pump,.. but if you short out that particular port with the test wire,.. its supposed to force the fuel pump on in the event that the fuel pump relay had failed.

+1 a redneck test that actually works lol.....btw if it starts when you hit the tank it means you need a fuel pump.

if you hear the pump run when the key gets turned on and it still doesn't run check the canister filter back by the tank. It is mounted in front of the tank and looks like a small coffee can. If it is clogged it won't let the car run or it will run for a minute and shut off depending on how clogged it is. It is about 15.00 easy to replace and could be your problem.

For an update I replaced the fuel pump with a TFS 255 LPH pump and car started first turn. Thanks for the help!
