Like I told Zate when he mention it....

What is the population of Australia? Around 20 million.

United States...308,244,272 (roughly 15 times Australia's), not including all the undocumented aliens we take care of.

Our nation can't even get Medicare or the VA administration to work, yet now they want to make it national.

How many Canadians come to the US medical reasons to get treated?

How about that UK and their health care?

One out of the group has it right, or is not failed yet.

What you're trying to say is Australia's plan, a dual tiered healthcare system, is not scalable. Thats a fair enough thing to assert. Now, why do you say that? What in the mechanics of that plan prevent it from being scalable?

So true. IIRC, it's a fairly new system in australia....But I could be wrong....I want my gooberment cheese damn it!

Obama is a complete genius! He figured out how to get everyone in America to vote....More than that, he got the majority to vote for HIM. Now, where is my change? Oh yeah....There it is...All $.47 of it.....Right in my pocket where I left it. Imagine that....A savings account that works!

I just can't see the people in charge not doing it without seeing a profit, and at that point when does the greed take over. Get what we have now working and expand from there. They just want to create something and say it will work when the people can list tons of government programs that are flawed. I know things aren't going to always go smoothly but how many programs do we have to create for those who don't contribute to society.

People in charge will of course make a profit - the people who staff this department have to earn a paycheck, too. But, if you're worried about abuse of the funds, well then I don't know what to say except if they want to gobble up taxes, they can do it with or without this option. So it doesn't really make a difference.

"Those who don't contribute to society" get treated no matter what, and you better believe you foot the bill for their shit. The correct solution is free preventative care for all, and free BASIC corrective care. Government funded. However, you must still purchase private insurance if you want comprehensive coverage. Things like transplants, cancer treatment, etc. will not be covered by the government - your own insurance has to deal with that.

Using this system, we'll be able to keep people in the absolute best health (no more 'not going to the doctor' because you think your sickness will blow over and don't have health insurance) which translates to less diseases and viruses floating around, which translates to less hard working people getting sick. However, should you get fucked up, your incentive to keep private insurance is that the government WILL NOT fix you on its bill - your private insurance company has to do that.

BTW, this will drastically drop premiums for private insurance companies. And I mean drastically. Preventative and common corrective care procedures make up a HUGE part of their costs. Its important that the government not tamper with insurance premiums in this case, except maybe to give them an initial kick in the ass, because the free market will ensure that their prices achieve the new equilibrium on its own.

Bwahahahahaha. You funny!! I don't think your definition of "general welfare" is the same as that of the founding fathers. "General Welfare" Bwahahahaha! That's a riot. Hint: It doesn't mean welfare for everybody

Isn't that what we have now (The part highlighted is shit brown is to illustrate an extreme bullshit statement)? If you get "fucked up" your insurance pays for it. If you don't have insurance the taxpayers will pay for it at the emergency room. All you're doing is getting another inefficient government buracracy involved taking their cut of the pie and bumping up the cost.

Does anyone even care about what the doctors have to say about this "welfare for all" bullshit?

As this doesn't really concern them, but rather insurance companies, nope, I really don't give a fuck what they have to say. Nobody is touching the doctors - the government WILL NOT be telling them what to do. They'll be signing their payments. If it ever becomes more than that we have a problem.

I say we vote EVERYONE out of their office!! Make a law that makes all elected officials when leaving office have medicare and only pay them social security. I bet the next bunch of leaches in office will make sure both SS and Medicare are fixed so the people that worked their asses off in this country are taken care of. People on Social Security won't get a raise this year but congress got 9%?? Something wrong. More government = Screwed public

as far as health care goes we need to fix the costs of school so doctors won't be 250k in debt fresh out of school and wont need to charge 125 for an office visit. Then health insurance will be cheaper and more people can offer to employees and discounted rates.
