We messed with the timing for about 3 days, and determined that its not the distributor or coil thats causing our problem.

You see, the car "runs" the best when we set the timing completely out of whack, and when we try to set it the way its supposed to be, it barely even starts. Is there any particular reason why this would be happening you guys?

We checked all the plugs and they are all hooked up correctly...

Any suggestions?

Tell us what it does when you say it "runs". Does it run like you could drive it or is it barely staying alive?

I like the suggestion Joe gave with the balancer ring spinning. Does the old balancer look a little out of shape, the rubber ring will be un even, maybe sticking out a little. It will give you different position on the timing marks if it has spun.

Timing chain is brand new, and cam and crank not being aligned correctly could be the issue, although I doubt it seeing as me and my mechanic made a specific point to set that correctly. The balancer could be screwed, Ill check into that as well.

Going to grab a new computer today, mine has 0 TPS voltage and with your instruction sheet you fax to me ill check the connections on the connector as well.

Ok guys we actually got to drive it tonight, after the new computer was installed it idles and doesnt shut off...but its definantly not a good idle...

We put some new sparkplugs in it and went around the corner in it and it is running very flat and is backfiring just a little, not to much...

The mass air meter I bought was used and previously been in contact with nitrous (when i bought it there was a hole where the jet was) and im thinking this might solve our problems for good. Its good to drive her down the street again though, been a long time coming

Glad to hear it..now you have all those other sensers to check like the TPS, IAC, ACT, O2, etc...yippee
