welding stainless
any tricks to welding stainless, i just ripped the hanger off my tailpipe on the speed mountians at walker ford. i have a mig welder(no gas)can i get stainless wire, or do i need to use gas.

You can use regular mild steel wire. The wire will rust since its not stainless, so it won't be pretty like stainless wire, but it will be more than up to the task.
I've never used a flux core wire MIG, I hear the welds aren't very pretty, but if that's what you've used in the past you should be fine.

You are supposed to back-gas stainless when you weld it.

I've never back-flowed stainless. I've welded stainless exhaust to steel flanges and that shit welds sooooo nice. You just crank the heat up and go. You'll get really nice beads usually. If you're welding really thin stuff then it may be beneficial, but I'll never know 
Jonathan, I guess that's something else to tell you if you weld it, you'll need to run more heat than you would welding mild steel since stainless is so dense.
