Don't pigify that poor car . Put the 5.0 DOHC Stroker in it. More power and less weight than the 03. Or, if you MUST have boost, do a turbo 2.3. Or, if you MUST have boost, do a turbo 2.3.

Bleh, it handles well enough already. It needs more power and it needs a v8 sound to it. We wouldn't want to "Prowlerize" it by making it short a few cyls, now would we?

It's got 50/50 distro in stock form. Why would you want to upset such a beautiful thing?

The question is, why not? With all of the R&D in the suspension, it could handle a bit more over the nose. The extra torque would make it even more fun to drive and justify the high pricetag a bit more. I'm sure there is some uber rich guy who has custom ordered one with the blown powerplant already. Hell, if people can TT a Diablo and a Ferrari F50, then this little project shouldn't be out of their reach.

The question is: Why add any weight anywhere when you don't have to?

The less sprung weight you have, the lower your wheel rate ( spring rate * motion ratio) has to be to still have the same roll resistance (for a given roll center and suspension geometry). Thus, you can use lower rate springs and have better overall contact with the road as you aren't bounding down the road bouncing over bumps. And, you get better ride quality on top of it.

Not to mention you need less power to obtain the same straight line performance and because you have lighter springs, you will have a more favorable weight transfer when you launch the car (e.g. more squat) and have better 60' times as well.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, Leo. I am fully aware of the physics of how a car performs, I just prefer more power. I know that you are fully prepaired to argue this one into the ground, so I will just go ahead and stop before it gets out of hand.

Think of it this way, one could easily offset the extra weight of the 03 Cobra motor in that particular vehicle with a heavy driver. It wouldn't be a big deal for some of us.
