Nope. None whatsoever. Anything that needs forced induction to get 200 or so HP probably isnt worth it.

Negative, the srt-4 has 235hp(to the wheel) from the factory and its forced induction, and last i heard its the fastest car under 25k....so its not worth it??

The thing i really dont like about the ION is the hp is probaly rated at the crank,so its probaly like 180 or so hp from the factory, but running a 15.3 makes it not the slowest thing out there, but its not by any means fast or quick....if the car fell into the right hands im sure someone could do something with it though and make it "worth it"

This is exactly what Ford's turbo 2.3l motor produced (found in the SVO, TC, and Merkur). Please try to argue your case to people putting well over 400hp to the ground on the stock bottom end.

But, I do agree that this motor in the Ion may not have much potential. It all depends on what GM decided to put in the bottom end. You can do the usual roots blower tricks (smaller pulley, larger injectors, tuning, etc), but you may be limited by the internals and perhaps by the size of the blower itself. It should be interesting to see what the aftermarket comes out with for this motor, and how this motor responds to modifications. It is just nice to see the US car manufacturers finally giving the sport compact genre a shot (SRT-4, SVT Focus, blown Ion/Cobalt).

I was taken a bit wrong (yet again)

Turbo Ford and SRT-4 are quite nice, and with few mods you could probably get it to 200 HP as an N/A quite easily. My arguement is with todays technology, this thing better have the potential of a 4G63/SRT-4/whatever.

Anyways, I doubt it will. I think the point of this car (and the tC) were to have fun, decently quick gettaround cars. The excruciality of my post (wtf I make up words everyday) makes me think if I'm scared to see a fast factory Saturn

It's the same engine that is going in the Cobalt....saturn and chevy, both GM....same engine, same slow car...And if you havn't seen it, the SC is rediculously massive, for the small gains it puts out....
