Cool stuff, but the problem I have with nascar is that all the cars are basicly the same. The support races for both the CART and IRL series have more varied cars in the support races. The Rolex24 and 12 Hours of sebring both have a lot of varied cars as well.

NASCAR is obviously doing something right. The fan base of the Indy Car Series is only a fraction of the fan base of NASCAR. The closer cars makes for better racing. If looking at different cars is your thing then go to a car show. But making the cars as close to one another as NASCAR does makes for better racing. Last year, NASCAR saw the closest points margin to date. NASCAR also has the support of more Fortune 500 companies than any other sport; helping to make it the #1 spectator sport in America. I have been a loyal follower sine 1994 and will be at the 500 for my second time this weekend. Don't knock it, until you try it. Trust me, seeing a race in person is an experience like no other. My recomendation is Bristol Motor Speedway, I have never been to a better track in my life. Go 6 & 17!

Also, it didn't hurt NASCAR when Tony George split from CART to form the IRL. It made following open-wheel much more difficult. Looks like changes for the better may be coming for Indy cars though.
