Time to call this thread back to the top. I love the old stories and track history, no matter where it is.
Im looking for photos of stock class cars from the 1960's if anyone can help out. 1964 through 1971, doesnt matter what brand or which track. The photos would be used in a book thats in the works.
Please email if you can help out at all.
Thanks,
Doug

The track in Oldsmar was the Golden Triangle Drag Strip. It was run by the Blockbusters Car Club of Clearwater Florida. I was there the day it opened. I was one of the flaggers. The racetrack road was named for the horse track back towards town. It was on an old dairy man's property and it was literally swamp land. It is still swamp land and if you drive the roads around there with the windows down, you can hear the alligators bellowing. The Dairyman got part of the cut. Hazely Hood was an announcer that came later. The original announcers were R.C.Gause, and Herman Blair. Jim Kaylor and a guy named Livesay were the principals and did the paving. The car club ran the operation and it was quite a place. All the big names ran there in the winter and Don Garlits regularly took top eliminator. All the time I was there it was the Golden Triangle Dragstrip. I ran a 53 Henry J with a Cadillac.
