Hello Charles ive just recentley found TampaRacing, while looking for some info on my dad Bob Scadron and his track Twin City, even though i wasnt born yet my brothers were old enough to have all that fun as a kid at a race track, my mom and brothers tell me stories about it, and it really makes me wish i was old enough to of been there, but the reason why im replying my brother Patrick saved a old twin city race jacket from then, if i can figure out how to put the picture of it up i will, i also have a few old pics of some old drag cars il find also, its really cool for me to see peolpe talking about him and his track!

Please let me know when you post anything or have pictures of Twin city as i raced there in the 1970's I knew Bob real well I was also part owner in Allens Alley in Largo Thanks Bernie Kelley

 

Allen Kent owned the 67 GTO, called Pyro, He had a place called Allens alley in Largo,I also ran out of the same shop. My car was a 70 Cuda, Called Little Stuffie, Bernie Kelley

 

I remember it well. Allen and his wife Libby had matching gold GTOs. They were consistent winners. The first time I ever won my bracket there was up against Libby.
Bob used to take me to allen's shop during the week to BS with him. I learned to do a brake job there. I was 16 at the time.
Besides owning Twin city bob was an awesome car salesman. Top salesman no matter which dealership he was working for. He used to walk up to people on the lot and say "Money talks and bullshit walks". No kidding. He could sell sand in the desert.

Twin City Dragstrip was the only 1/4 mile strip in Pinellas County. Sunshine was only an 1/8 mile track.
FYI, after the county shut us down Bob sold all the equipment to Sunshine. The track sat unused for years, the tower slowly rotting away. Now I think there's a county ball park built there.

Great memories for sure.

There will be a display with racers reunion, old race cars etc
and car show, live music, food and drinks available and dash plaques.
No trophies. At 2 pm we will cruise to the Dade City car show where
the racers reunion will take place.

Last year, I did not arrive early enough to fully appreciate the Racers
Reunion. It would be a good idea if you arrive early in Dade City. Bring
a camera and something to get some autographs with.
