My main question being, the point of tickets are to slow people down, right? I know there are other reasons (quota, paying other things and such) but if you ask a cop his answer would probably be "to slow down traffic and keep order on the roads". What is the difference between someone flashing their headlights to oncoming traffic and the cop giving a ticket? They are both slowing traffic and keeping order. So much for Americans helping each other...

I believe you hit the nail on the head - Almost everyone is guilty of some kind of traffic violation at one time or another and the cops want to prey on these people. Much easier than stopping real criminals that are commiting real crimes against society. They'd much rather people still commit these 'heinous' crimes and nail them for it and make a quick buck for the government. They don't want order, they want suckers to keep speeding so they can nail them and they don't want anyone giving them advance warning.

No "crimes" no cops.

Having Flash-To-pass lights rocks
Too bad no one ever sees them, or the rest of my car for that matter... At least it seems that way.

As a bonus everyone that reads the thread will wonder if it is worth the hassled of warning other drivers of an upcoming speed trap.
I agree. I will, however, not think twice about flashing the next time I see a speed trap, lol. These posts also let people that didn't know why someone would be flashing them know why

As seen in more than one of these recent posts,.......
there is more than one way to enforce the law. Tickets are one way, your time wasted versus the benefit you get is another.....and a few other ways...

In Florida, 1/3rd of a million speeding tickets are written each year. No other category gets even CLOSE to that. It's easy to do.
To stay employed, the officer must please his boss, who has to please a politician, a politician who wants to see numbers.
If liberal judges would allow the cops to actually deter crime, you wouldn't see the cops taking the easy way out by writing speeding tickets.
After he is abused enough times by a-holes, he "preys" (as you say)
on the a-holes. So the question is: how do you distinguish yourself from
an a-hole? Inquiring minds want to know.....-Bob

I got a ticket this afternoon (2:00pm) because I flashed my headlights at on coming traffic to let them know that the cops had a speed trap/sting set up in the direction I was coming from ... Well little did I know but one of the cars I flashed (in the rear of the group) was an unmarked Crown Vick anyways he proceeds to do a U turn in the middle of the road and comes after me with his take down lights on ..so I pulled over and he gets out and immediately starts being a smart ass with me and says shyt like "So where’s the fire and what’s the big emergency that you need to flash your headlights", then he proceeds to tell me that it is illegal in the state of Florida to flash your headlights for any reason (which I have never heard of and sounds like total bullshyt to me) So anyways he doesn’t give me a warning ..He gives me a ticket and says that flashing my headlights is a "moving violation" and my fine amount is $120.50 .....WTF? Right .. Yeah that what I said.. Anyways I think he was just being a prick because I was letting other cars know to slow down ... and since when is that a bad thing??? Well I guess when it screws a cop outta writing a ticket it is. Anyways I’m taking this to court and when I went to the court house to set my court date the lady thought it was a ridiculous ticket as well and she even said that the officer wrote the ticket up under the statue of "improper equipment"??? So she said it will likely be thrown out of court. Anyways.. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and maybe put the warning out to those that didn’t know it was ILLEGAL...
What was the the State statute and section number that you violated?
