In Florida, 1/3rd of a million speeding tickets are written each year. No other category gets even CLOSE to that. It's easy to do.
To stay employed, the officer must please his boss, who has to please a politician, a politician who wants to see numbers.
If liberal judges would allow the cops to actually deter crime, you wouldn't see the cops taking the easy way out by writing speeding tickets.
After he is abused enough times by a-holes, he "preys" (as you say)
on the a-holes. So the question is: how do you distinguish yourself from
an a-hole? Inquiring minds want to know.....-Bob

I'm not blaming the officers for making traffic stops - but something that I've seen written up by more and more LEO's is there are specific officers assigned to nothing but traffic violations. Now, I'm sure it's that officers perrogative as to what kind of stops he makes, as long as he keeps his boss happy. My point is our petty "crime" of going 5mph over the speed limit, or flashing lights at oncoming traffic is a cash cow for the police establishment, so of course they're going to want more officers out there making ludicrus amounts of money for them with as little effort as possible. For instance just the other night I was almost hit by a drunk driver - only to see them speed away. Who knows where they ended up or if they hurt anyone along the way, but I sure didn't see any cops after him. Not one mile later I saw 3 cops engaged in a speed trap - to bust all those hard working citizens of the horrible crime of going 5 mph or more over the speed limit. That seems twisted to me, almost like the police hierarchy is so corrupt they care more about keeping their boss happy by preying on people wanting to get to their destination faster than setting out to prevent or punish real crimes. I've been hit by a drunk driver before, no one stopped her before she hit me, but I sure have been stopped for some bullshit traffic infractions before.

But to get back to your statement, What a-holes are you talking about? Further to that, I never claimed not to be an a-hole, so I'm not sure I'd want to make the effort to distinguish myself from an asshole.

I'm sure you can win against the po po. If everyone keeps paying the tickets and dont fight them and probably win the cops will keep giving bullshit tickets because they feel they can get away with it.

I just got my second exhaust ticket about two weeks ago. I paid the first one but I got tired after the second so I'm going to court to fight it and I think I will win because I found a loophole in that law. If I win that means everyone else who gets an exhaust ticket will be able to fight it also. I have my case prepared and I'm ready to question the officer. Remember in a court of law your innocent until proven guilty, so its not up to you to prove your innocent its up to the officer to prove you were guilty and by asking him the right questions you can put some holes in his case.

If I still had the actual ticket itself I could tell you .. but the woman at the court house kept the ticket when I went in to set up my court date. All I could tell you is on the front of the ticket he wrote. "Flashing Head Lights" but the woman that set me up with the court date was the one that told me that the officer wrote the ticket up as "improper equipment" according to the statute number he wrote.
All the woman give me back was a very poor photocopy of the ticket stapled to my paper with my court date @ time ect ect. and I cant make out what the numbers are he wrote are on the photocopy of the ticket.

Yesterday and today I flashed people on US 19 in the mornings where Largo had their trap set up and also three separate times on 275 near the Howard Franklin with state troopers hiding behind bushes. It felt great!!

First, there are plenty of things that burn my ass. Lets look at some of the rediculously slow speed limits. I have seen 35mph speed limits on 4 lane highways, and not meaning residential, or school area zones either. Those speeds may have been great back in the 50s and 60s but give me a break, going 35mph in my little Z is silly slow. My work truck is another story. Its an old piece of crap and doesn't hardly have the power to get out of it's own way but even it going 35mph is still slow.

Next, lets look at these tickets. Just like some of you have said, we get speeding tickets for safety reasons. Thats BS and I would hope most people can realize this. It's all about revenue, again just as some of you have said. This may rub some of you the wrong way, but think about it: Cops will set up speeding traps on the road, but they won't set up traps at the bars now will they. Remember this is all about safety, or so they say. This point is just to prove that it isn't about safety, its about revenue.

Lets, also take a look at the officers themselves. I know of several, that I have seen partake in illegal activity such as speeding, streetracing, controled substances, drinking then driving. Do I think all officers do these things, of course not, however, I would be willing to bet the great majority of them have done on occasion or constantly at least one of the above. I couldn't be a hippocrite like that.

As far as this post is concerned, I will now more then before flash my lights (on/off) to warn of a speed trap.

It's BS that we not only have to pay higher taxes to make some politician richer, but we also have to pay traffic fines for petty violations, as well as pay for the lazy people out there who refuse to work and live of my tax money that I work hard for.

Rant off!
