Bad Cop? Good Cop?
Bad Cop? Good Cop?
Well, since my "flashing headlights" ticket a few months ago .. I have had a bitter outlook on our local law enforcement. I made a post about my negative experience with the above mentioned situation here on the site in another thread ( https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/g...ml#post3038763 )so I thought it only fair to make a post regarding the positive experience that happened to me today.
Well to sum things up I was on my way to the Brandon Mall and I took the back roads to avoid some of the traffic. Needless to say as I rounded the second curve of a road I frequently travel I passed right by a Sheriff Officer which was hidden back off the side of the road behind a church sign of all things..
Anyways so he flips on his take down lights and I proceed to pull over in the parking lot of closet store.
As he approached my vehicle I grab the necessary goodies (my license registration and proof of insurance) He asked me if I new why he stop me and I politely stated that I was speeding (I’m always polite when I know I was in the wrong) then he asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I stated 48mph (cause when I seen him *which was already too late* I glanced at my speedo) he then stated that he clocked me at 52mph. (Ouch guess my speedo is off some) He then asked me if I knew what the speed limit was on this road and I answered 45mph (I honestly believe it to be 45mph) although that still put me as speeding.
He then stated that it was 35 mph on the two curves and then told me to sit tight and he'd be right back. So I’m sitting there mad at myself thinking GREAT just what I need now... He comes back about 5 mins later and tells me that the insurance card was expired by date. (I gave him the old one by mistake) So I dug through my glove compartment to find the current one for him and gave it to him. He then informed me that the cost of the ticket for going 52 in a 35 was $186.00 He then stated that he normally gives a 10 mph lee way and I was over that by about 7 mph and then he said that I had a nice looking hotrod, not saying that I was out hot Roding it but I needed to slow it down on those curves and he handed me back my goodies (my license registration and proof of insurance) and he said have a nice day. *BIG SMILE* and so gave him a huge THANK YOU.
So even though some of us have had some bad experiences with law enforcement and I for one had just had one with an officer prior to him ... it just goes to show you that there are GOOD ones out there too.

For some reason, I'm guessing this wouldnt have gone as well if you were driving a pimped out civic on dubs.
I got the exact opposite
Got pulled over by a nice cop who wanted to check out the car..
The next day I get slammed for (not) street racing.
But yeah.. I don't hate cops at all.. I just hate human beings who abuse their position - Which seems to happen quite often here in Florida.

Not writing you a ticket does not make him a good cop. You are just lucky you got off scott free.
As always the simple solution, don't speed.

Once again, its better to be a mullet than a ricer!
