i accredit fitment and stance to the early days of drifting and euro road racing.
you cant deny that the drifting scene had a HUGE impact on fitment and stance, especially in the US.

Wont deny it, drifting AND vip helped bring it to the JDM crowd and the guys over in europe influenced the german cars. I feel that a lot of people forget where it all started, but I do like that more and more people are "getting it". Now if only the local people in the bay area would catch on.

I would say that the Euro crowd and specifically the VW's have had the largest role in the acceptance of it in the US. And then the drift crowd made it mainstream cool maybe...
