my boy just brought a 97 kia sportage for 1800, runs great best part, its a 2.0L I4 twin came, rwd, 5 spd, its a small lil suv, smaller then a toyota rav4, maybe smaller then the honda crv, im gonna give it a tune up, seafoam it, and detail it like theres no tomorrow i'll post pics later, its a sweet lil car.
i was very stuned to find out that it was rwd, lol i think its posy drive, both rear tires spin out fast

well, good for you getting a good one...
The motor in that car can be a very potent powerplant...like posted above it was once mazda engine and could only be had by importing them. Their known for going into 1st gen probes/mx6. IMO could make for an ultimate sleeper!

lol^ you know where I was going...actually the motor came originally from japan with a turbo. The FE3T to be exact.
