Most people on here aren't really looking at buying a 911 Turbo or a GT-R so that is why you will get so many Bullshit responses. I can tell you that this IS a very big deal to the people that are actually deciding between the two cars for purchase. I doubt that Prosche drivers spent as much time in the car as the Nissan driver and since the GTR hasn't been around that long it isn't like there have been tons of drivers that are super familiar with the car like most test drivers are familiar with a Porsche by now....

Yeah I would still buy the Porsche over a GTR.

IF Nissan did the time without any special conditions - and if they were smart - they have in their hands one of the GREATEST marketing opportunities of all time in the Auto world.

Publically invite Porsche to inspect the vehicle.

Publically invite an observer to ride with their driver

Invite a few magazines to cover the event.

When (and if) the time is exceeded or met – publically ask Porsche for an apology.

My guess is that they are not able to duplicate the event in a stock car.

Porsche has Walter Rohl test driver - he could pilot a garbage truck around the ring fast.

^ exactly what I was saying....Even if it is within a few seconds of the record time it would prove that it could be done.
