Oh so they are doing the thing where the model name stays the same but the car moves into a different category. The new tiburon is supposed to compete with the G37 and the BMW 3335i .... we will see I guess.

2.0T is spec'd at 3300lbs per their brochure: http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/coupe/...pe%20Specs.pdf

If you haven't been to the site yet (Hyundai Genesis Coupe: Affordable Performance 300+hp Sport Coupe | Hyundai) you need to go NOW. I've never seen anything like that before. Hyundai is pulling out all the stops on this one. They have my attention with this car.

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.

as for honda...

they havent made anything from the factory to impressive, the k series are great, but only in a lighter chasis, and the s2000 is bad ass, but still NA.
thats my point.

s2000 = discontinued
supra = discontinued
nsx = discontinued

Currently, neither Honda nor Toyota make anything remotely engaging for the sports car enthusiast. Quite the contrast from 10-15 years ago, when Hyundai was held in the same regard as Kia (and possibly less). Props to Hyundai

One thing I noticed is, the 2.0 is spec'd to run on 87 octane. I'm willing to bet a tune and a tank of 93 adds 35-50hp

no shit? 87. nice. and it looks like it has tons of potential if it's based off the 4b11 engine from mitsubishi. chances are it's running lower boost as well. up the boost to evo-esque specs...or at least ralliart lancer specs, throw some 93 octane in and a tune, and i'd be willing to bet it falls between 240-250 to the wheels. add the breathing mods and this thing could be in the 250-270 range easily. granted it's still a bit heavy, but i'd probably take the 2.0T over the v6 in terms of a higher ceiling to start with.

get a reasonable s/c kit for the v6 and i'd look at that one more. my brother wants one, and i'd be willing to trade, but i'd wait for model year 2 at least just to let them work out the TSBs and such.

I'm just not feeling the coupe yet. Maybe when I see it in person I'll like it more. The Sedan is nice. But he coupe..eh... is funky looking, That Camry front and droopy side window are fugly. But I do like the rear drive. Rumor mill has it, they were benchmarking the Mustang GT with this car.

But $32 G's for the loaded coupe??? For $32 grand I could buy the new Mustang GT and have cash left over for some decent performance mods.
