Default Tesla S unveiled... sort of

The Sedan was unveiled today. I think it's hot... I like it, but I think the price will be closer to $80,000. The Roadster is huge hit, do you think this one will also be a hit?

"Tesla has confirmed that the "anticipated base price" for the Model S will be $57,400. With a federal tax credit of $7,500 available, however, the Model S should cost just $49,900. Details on what's included in the base version of the Model S should be available at the vehicle's official unveiling next week. Tesla says that even with a sub-$50,000 price tag (just barely), the Model S is really competing with cars that cost much less."

Will it be???? should it be.....hell yes, but all the Hollywood do-gooders won't be as easily seen in something like this rather than a prius so who knows. As Jay Leno says, They want to be easily recognized for the good they do anonymously.

It seems odd to me that they would say: "Tesla says that even with a sub-$50,000 price tag (just barely), the Model S is really competing with cars that cost much less."

-Maybe im reading it wrong, but are they saying that their $50,000 car is competing with say a $30,000 car? Doesnt it seem like they would want to flip it around and have their 50l car competing with more expensive cars to make the value seem better?

-Car looks awesome though, hopefully it will actually make it into production, and not cost an arm and a leg! I would really love to see the roadster come out as well!

As soon as they can be pre-ordered, I'm getting on the list. I've been waiting for this...and can't afford the Fisker Karma or the Tesla Roadster.
