Tread life of nitto 555Rs ?
Tread life of nitto 555Rs ?
I'm not sure were to post this but figured this was the best place.
I'm thinking of getting some nitto 555R drag radials for my truck 325/50/15.
I'm wondering what kind of miles I can get out of them ?
If I can get like 12-14k out of them then I will just run 1 set of wheels, But if they will only last 4-6k then I will run them on another set of wheels and just use them for the track.
The tires I plan to get should last 2 years or 30K miles but they will suffer in the traction department as they are only 255s.
1 set of wheels its
$200 for wheels
$200 for front tires
$360 for rear tires.
= $760 total
or 2 sets of wheels keeping the wheels I have now.
$100 for wheels for the drag radials
$400 for tires for the DD wheels
$360 for drag radials
= $860 total
Part of me wants to change my wheels anyway but idk. Since the wheels I have now are 40lbs each with out tires they are heavy.. as a DD its not that big of a deal but at the track they suck.
Im also open to ideas on tires to run on the back. Need to be 10-12inch wide and 27-28 inch tall.

I always get about 12k miles out of my nitto dr's. They like around 22 to 24 psi, anything more and the middle of the tire will were out much faster. They last the longest out of all the dr's but they also have less traction.

Talk to Matt and Dane with the Camaro's at the meet about the life on them. I know they both use them.

CBR, 12k would be enough for just about a year for me, but how much less traction ?
The nitto dr's work much better on the street then any other regular street tire, there also decent in the rain. At the track there not as good as the mt's but they will last twice as long. I think the nitto dr is a good compromise between traction and long wearing.
