New school domestics vs. imports.....
too bad mazda OWNS this hp/liter...
1.3L n/a = 146hp
1.3L ren n/a = 232hp
1.3L t = 200hp
1.3L tt = ~240hp
2.0L tt = 300hp
<3
Post script: and before some dicktard mentions torque, the 1.3L n/a makes 138 ftlbs and the 2.0L tt makes 300 ftlbs, i dont know about the others.
OP: the 13b renesis in the rx8 only pushes 232hp with the M/T, but thats n/a with only a 1.3L...

2k on a good turbo setup, thats fucking awesome.
I just sold a good turbo setup for a Mustang. It was for BLOWTHROUGH CARB, that means no fuel injection crap. Didn't include the carb(800 dollars) or carb hat(150 dollars). $2300. Used. And the guy was very happy to get a deal on it. That turbo setup was over 4000 new.

With you, as I'm talking about selling an incomplete turbo kit for a carb'd motor(cheaper than FI) for 2300 and calling it a deal.
Edit: Neither with you nor against you, actually. I'm against all of you ricers. Because I hate you all.

from Wiki:
Automotive use
Fiat was the first auto manufacturer to patent a functional automotive variable valve timing system which included variable lift. Developed by Giovanni Torazza in the late 1960s, the system used hydraulic pressure to vary the fulcrum of the cam followers (US Patent 3,641,98. The hydraulic pressure changed according to engine speed and intake pressure. The typical opening variation was 37%.
In September 1975, General Motors (GM) patented a system intended to vary valve lift. GM was interested in throttling the intake valves in order to reduce emissions. This was done by minimizing the amount of lift at low load to keep the intake velocity higher, thereby atomizing the intake charge. GM encountered problems running at very low lift, and abandoned the project.
Alfa Romeo was the first manufacturer to use a variable valve timing system in production cars (US Patent 4,231,330). The 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0&nsp;L had a mechanical VVT system in SPICA fuel injected cars sold in the United States. Later this was also used in the 1983 Alfetta 2.0 Quadrifoglio Oro models as well as other cars. The system was engineered by Ing Giampaolo Garcea in the 1970s.[3]
Yes, Honda employed variable timing before Ford in a mass production car. But Ford's SVT division in cooperation with Cosworth Engineeriing made it work better in the SVT Focus by adding dual stage intake runners. Thus the SVTF actually exhibited usable torque. If you think your Civic is faster than my Focus bring it down to a local autocross. I like PCA events best. It's fun to humble Porsche owners on their own turf. If I can do so well there, then I'm sure your civic will be even better. I mean it being Right Hand Drive and all must add at least an extra 150HP to the equation.
You claim that Ford copied Honda's variable timing, but....when you think about it, Ford is often credited with making the first car marketed to the masses, so I suppose that'd mean Honda copied Ford's idea to make cars

So.... What cars are being compared now? A focus and a Civic? Are these really new school imports and domenstics?
There isnt much to compare apples to apples IMO.
