2011 Mustang 5.0 or 2011 Camaro SS1?
I can't stand the new Camaros. 5.0 Mustang with the Brembo brake package all the way... I've got to go test drive one because everything I hear is that they are an absolute blast to drive.

I had a 2SS that I put about 6,000 miles on so I can at least share my experience.
Honestly, the performance side was lacking. Yeah it has 20" wheels and big brakes, they look good but add a ton of rotating weight to a car that is already overweight. It had horrid amounts of understeer which I find unacceptable in a RWD car. A few people said they had lessened it with different wheel/tire combinations and widening up the front tires but this should have been remedied before these cars were ever built. Straight line performance was alright but not impressive by any means. The LS3 is a great motor but when it's pushing close to 4,000 pounds, well you get the idea. I never had it at the track but it didn't seem any faster than my bolt on 4th gen.
All that stuff aside, it would make a great daily driver. The interior is great, the seats were comfortable, not too much road noise, and the radio in the 2SS was awesome.
It really depends on what you're looking for. From your original post I would say you're looking more for the best performance numbers you can get for the money spent. I haven't gotten a chance to drive the new 5.0 GT but on paper it looks like the better performer. As far as looks I think the Camaro wins but you can easily decide that for yourself.

Well guess it comes down to what you beleive. I'm not buying shit from gm till they become a private company again if ever.
The mustang seems to be cheaper and lighter. I'd bet you could get a ford guy to get you the employee plan. D-plan or similar.

hmm. a d-plan as an Employee discount?. I drove the mustang and it was quick and handled ok, i use to have a 640RWHP car so 380 at the wheels feels slow to me. i have yet to drive the Camaro, hopefully tomorrow i can. Keep the feedback coming.
Fucking Mustangs! As much as I hate Mustangs the newest 5.0 is the only Mustang you can drive that has nice performance and looks. Its also the only acceptable Mustang to drive for a guy besides a build older Foxbody. The Camaro just looks like a huge bulky car, and it is. Yeah the newer Mustangs are chubbed up but still nothing like the tank Camaro.
Looks are subjective. I would say get the car that feels more comfortable. The ergonomics are a huge factor, you do after all have to drive it everyday. I would say drive both back to back within a few hours. Try backing out of parking spaces, go through parking lots, make a u turn, listen for road noise . You'll find out things that matter by driving it in situations you'll encounter day to day rather than just flooring it up and down the road a few times, even if the mustang is faster
